New Map on Airbnb

Very concerned about this new search map I saw today on airbnb. This feature seems to prioritize and highlight popular tourist destinations. I have found a great strength of airbnb is that it promotes off the beaten track locations. As well rural travellers aren't looking for a destination but rather the airbnb becomes the destination.

In my area, I'm highly annoyed that a host 50 miles away appears anywhere near the town that I'm in and Airbnb considers them to be "comps". There is no way to compare my place to another 50 miles away in a separate city.

I've noticed in my city of Saint Petersburg, if guests search and bring up the map view, it doesn't show the city centre but instead shows a random field beside the motorway 25km south of the city as the map bullseye.

On the fringe of the map is the Royal Catherine Palace, 42km south of the city, along with highly featured listing availability there, so I guess they want to nudge viewers to look at surrounding areas but it comes across a wacky half baked idea.
