Hello everyone! ๐
Welcome to the Community Center! ๐ I'm @Bhumika , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca and @Elisa and we are thrilled to have you join us.
Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:
@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands ๐ณ๐ฑ I have been on the Community Center for 6+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling๐ฒ, playing footballโฝ, and travelling๐ . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.
@Bhumika : ๐ I was born in Gujarat, India ๐ฎ๐ณ , and shifted to Toronto, Canada ๐จ๐ฆ last year! ๐ท I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. ๐ When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.
@Paula : I am from Colombia ๐จ๐ด and currently living in British Columbia, Canada ๐จ๐ฆ. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance ๐) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries ๐ and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking ๐ฒ and hiking ๐.
@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist ๐ฟ and like to minimise my impact on the planet ๐ as well as volunteering in my local community. I love sea swimming ๐ yoga on the beach ๐งโ and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! ๐
@Elisa : I was born in Italy ๐ฎ๐น and as a lover of unique experiencesโfrom exploring the streets of Rome๐ฎ๐น , Paris ๐ซ๐ท, and Toronto ๐จ๐ฆ to appreciating timeless art and cuisineโI'm here to blend the old with the new.
Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Warm regards,
Bhumika

Well, hello!
I am Troy in Boise, Idaho. Friends call me Cark (first half of last name). I have hosted twice and cleaned twelve times. ๐. Seriously, though, we are the original owners and bought our house in southeast Boise in 2002, raised twins hereโฆsent one off to nursing school and the other to Dominoes pizza as a delivery driver. We always reinvested our extra income back into the house. Thus, like a well-prepared Mom at the beach with two sets of tweezers in the duffel bag, we remodeled our kitchen three times. Every room and floor upgradedโฆevery appliance, HVAC, window, blind, fixture!
Ultimately, I decided to not lose the opportunity cost of selling in a high interest rate, undervalued market, even though I was marketing it to Dubai. It can be viewed at Carktricity.com.
Now, this made me pucker. I submitted my listing and kept working diligently, day and night, to get her ready for prime time. At 5am last week, I looked in the app and realized I had a 5 day first booking at 3pm. Holy Sh*t !!
We DEEP-cleaned everything AND moved out by 5pm (yes, I called).
What advice can you please provide to this middle-aged white hockey from Montana that used to ride a YZ-WR250 motorcycle of the same name. Not Cark, but โWhite Honkeyโ. Hahaha.
Hi @Troy341 ๐
Welcome to the community center Troy!
I like your journey as a Host, it sounds like quite the adventure. ๐
Why did you decide to remodel the kitchen three times?

I"m Brian my son daughter an I own a airbnb home in Venice Florida. i had to get a new house keeping service because my last on was not doing a good job. the new service is twice as expensive. I know you get what you pay for but the cost is more than my nightly fee and the same as the nightly fee in the high season. I feel this added cleaning cost is effecting my bookings. does anyone of a recommendation of a good and affordable service. my current service charges 225.00 per night
Hi @Brian3399 ๐,

Greetings and Salutations
The name is Wade, my friends call me Haggie and I live in the middle of the Canadian prairies. Regina, Saskatchewan is the city of my choosing but I do enjoy travelling. I have only been an AirBnB host for a few months and I do enjoy meeting new people.
So far I have only stayed in AirBnBs in Scotland and the Yukon Territories but look forward to travelling in the years to come.
Hi @Wade120! Welcome๐ Itโs great to meet you!
Living in the Canadian prairies must offer a unique perspective as a host. ๐พ Whatโs been your favorite part of hosting so far? And do you have any travel destinations on your wishlist that you're excited to explore?
Hello Quincy
So far I have only had about a dozen guests. My intent was to provide affordable prices for people visiting ailing family members at the hospital since I am across the street. At the moment I had a guest who lives out of town and is a nurse working nights. I love the feeling of being able to help people.
The perspective I have of being a host on the prairies is that my guests have been people crossing this large country of ours. After all travelling from Toronto to Vancouver is like going from Moscow to Madrid. It takes many days to drive. I do my best to be a good Ambassador of Regina and tell my guests some of the history of this fair city.
My grandfather immigrated from Norway so my next vacation will be there in 2026 and I have been scouting out AirBnB opportunities already. After that I would love to escape the Canadian winters by visiting Central and South America.
