Hello everyone! ๐
Welcome to the Community Center! ๐ I'm @Bhumika , one of the Community Managers for our English Community Center along with my lovely team members @Quincy @Paula @Rebecca and @Elisa and we are thrilled to have you join us.
Let's kickstart this thread with a little about us Community Managers:
@Quincy : I'm from the Netherlands ๐ณ๐ฑ I have been on the Community Center for 6+ years, and have been an Airbnb Host myself. I love cycling๐ฒ, playing footballโฝ, and travelling๐ . I love how dynamic and diverse the Community Center is as we meet Hosts from all around the globe.
@Bhumika : ๐ I was born in Gujarat, India ๐ฎ๐ณ , and shifted to Toronto, Canada ๐จ๐ฆ last year! ๐ท I recently realized my love for photography and aesthetics. I love to capture mundane life and candid pictures. ๐ When I'm not working, you'll find me binge-watching thriller movies or exploring history.
@Paula : I am from Colombia ๐จ๐ด and currently living in British Columbia, Canada ๐จ๐ฆ. I have a passion for Latin American culture (I love to dance ๐) . I've had the opportunity to visit around 20 countries ๐ and plan to visit many more. In my free time, I enjoy outdoor activities, especially mountain biking ๐ฒ and hiking ๐.
@Rebecca : I'm from Cardiff in Wales originally but being a military child and a veterans spouse, I've travelled and lived in a lot of different places in the UK and Europe. I'm an environmentalist ๐ฟ and like to minimise my impact on the planet ๐ as well as volunteering in my local community. I love sea swimming ๐ yoga on the beach ๐งโ and I'm a children's yoga instructor too! ๐
@Elisa : I was born in Italy ๐ฎ๐น and as a lover of unique experiencesโfrom exploring the streets of Rome๐ฎ๐น , Paris ๐ซ๐ท, and Toronto ๐จ๐ฆ to appreciating timeless art and cuisineโI'm here to blend the old with the new.
Now it's your turn! Tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? And is there something special about the location of your accommodation that you'd like to share?
Looking forward to getting to know you all!
Warm regards,
Bhumika
Hello @Rachel3073,
Welcome, and congratulations on what sounds like an amazing first summer hosting! Are you planning to host again in spring or will you wait until next summer again?
I would LOVE to see a picture of your doggos, we've got a lot of animal lovers around the community so I know I wouldn't the only one happy to get a glimpse at some good boys. ๐
Hi. My name is Erica and I am excited to join the group. I am from Columbia, MO. I decided to join Airbnb this year to be in supportive community, provide a more personal lodging experience, and of course making extra cash helps.
Hello @EMB-Group0, welcome to the community! ๐
It's great to hear you started your hosting journey this year, how is it going so far? Have you received your first booking already or is it something to look forward to still? ๐
Hello All
Iโm new here.
Iโm from England and have a wee place up in the Dales where my family had lived for hundreds of years.
itโs a wee place that I cannot let go and thought Iโd try this AirB&B with the persuasion from a good friend of mine.
Hopefully - a positive journey ahead.
Love for walking - painting - visiting places of interests as well as eating&drinking tea/coffee x
Hello @Toria2723,
It's so lovely to have you here with us, welcome to the community! Has your family lived in that village or in the house itself for hundreds of years? It must be very special to welcome guests in a place that means so much to you. ๐ค
I'm also very curious about the sort of painting you love, are you an artist yourself? ๐จ
Hi, I'm Karen. Last year, after 17 year working in Geneva and living in France, we retired to a farm in Central Michigan. Climate change was the primary factor for a move here. In addition to buying a farm, we began a 501c3 private operating foundation called the Climate Change Permaculture Project. We purchased a 4-bedroom house with a pole barn and 2 acres across the street. A residency program will provide 4 young women farmers with housing and 1/2 acre each to practice regenerative agriculture to learn what will grow best during extreme weather conditions. We had hoped to begin programming in 2024 but only had one applicant (needed 4). We are Airbnbing the house until programming begins, hopefully in 2025.
I guess we're atypical Airbnb hosts. Our property is called Quixote's Dream and is located on a lake near Clare, MI. The name comes from both the wind turbines located nearby as well as our dream for this endeavor.
Hello @Karen4423, thank you so much for sharing your introduction with us!๐
The Climate Change Permaculture Project sounds fascinating. Would you like to tell us a bit more about it? I understand the goal is to address climate change, but could you elaborate on how it connects with your hosting business?
Looking forward to hearing from you! ๐ป
@Paula Thanks for asking. ๐
When we purchased and renovated the house in 2022-23, our intention was for it to be residential housing for participants of CCPP's Permaculture Incubator Program. Until that is able to get off the ground, we are renting the house through Airbnb to help cover our costs.

Hi, i am Hanni from Cartagena, Colombia. Airbnb superhost for the past 7 years.
Hello @Hanni80, welcome to the Airbnb Community Center!
I'm very glad to see more Colombian hosts joining us. How is this season shaping up in Cartagena? We're approaching the high season there, right?
Keep us posted!
Hello I'm MJ, born in Hong Kong and came to Toronto, Canada with my family at 8 years old. I've lived and studied abroad in many places like Montreal, Miami, and The Philippines.
I'm quite new to hosting on Airbnb and I'm grateful that I became a Superhost.
I'm quite active with many activities and hobbies, I am semi-retired is why I took up hosting my 1 bedroom. I am an interior design by profession, I love playing pickleball and tennis, love biking, and I love making coffee/espresso for my guests. My husband and I enjoy taking walks with my guests through the beautiful High Park right across my house.
My experience has been rewarding certainly, fun at times, challenging at times, and honestly, lately I feel lost with the continual burdening of city bylaws and rules, I can't catch a breathe honestly with all the changes and not sure where to look for answers.
I'm sorry to get right into it, I've just been served with a new letter from the city about fire safety plan but it's not just the evacuation drawing but 2 other demands:
-lighted exit sign (even in a bedroom rental?)
-a fire safety plan (supposedly a booklet that must be in the unit done by professional fire safety company that I must hire? - again, all this for 1 bedroom rental in my house?)
I hope joining this community will help with my questions, and I too hope to help others with their questions as new hosts or lost hosts, like me lol.
hope this isn't too much for an intro..
XO MJ
