There's 100% nothing wrong with this mirror. Oh. My. It's not heavy and has been on a substantial hanger and nail for 3 years. The nail has a bit of an angle because plaster walls are a pain to hang things.
Its above the upstairs sink and completely secure. Why on earth are you taking down the mirror?? Dollars to donuts you damaged the wall.
I recently had a similar issue, wanted to replace and old medicine cabinet but found just plaster there and not studs. You have to use toggle bolts to burrow into the plaster for a secure hold. Not defending what the guest did (he should have left it) but just suggesting it may be better to use toggle bolts in plaster if no studs are present.
I would review the guest accordingly. "removed a mirror from the wall without cause."

I am constantly amazed and wondering at the shenanigans some guests must get up to that result in these kinds of things happening. I doubt these things happens at home. Oh to be a fly on the wall! On second thought, it’s probably best we don’t ever know the truth.
@Laura2592 That’s what a normal person would do. I think your expectations are too high. Your guests are….unusual.
@Colleen253 honestly I am so ready to be done. I am at the end of my patience. My husband does a lot more responding now. I just can't with these people.
Yep they damaged the wall.
Also did not open the flue when making a fire. It will be hours of extra turn over and airing the place out

we are just coming into our first winter season, and already (autumn but it's chilly enough) about 70% of people can't light a fire. dear humans: water, food, fire, shelter. that's the basics.
Anyway, i've got written instructions, but we are now going to do a 2 page instructional with photos on how to light a fire. we've had guests use 8 firestarters, we even bought kindling to make things easier and they go through half a bag to start a fire (I think 4 sticks is sufficient), and i've had guests wander off to "find wood" to burn, even though we have supplies of red gum close by.

@Mark116 I didn't. I don't have a spoon count. I nicely said yo expect to clean up/run the dishwasher.

The sad truth is that there's a personality disorder related to STR guests that is all too common: Guests want there to be a “problem.” So they create a problem. Then they "fix" the problem.
I make this particular “problem” above impossible to create by securely bolting almost everything in the home to the walls/floor/ceiling permanently. Tables, mirrors, art, sofas, beds, rugs, electronics, TVs, lamps, nightstands, dressers, etc. If it can’t be laundered, isn't a dining chair, or isn’t meant to be played with, it’s bolted.
The inspiration for this was newer Marriott hotels. EVERYTHING is unmovable save for the office chair, and the sheets on the bed. If it's good for the largest hotel chain in the world, it’s good enough for me.
