POIPU CRATER RESORT.

I am submitting my last and final
request to cancel Reservation Confirmation

with 100% refund. This reservation was made on 6/18/2020,
and the 1st request for cancellation and refund was made on
6/26/2020 for the following reasons:
State of Hawaii issued a travel alert:
JUNE 24 UPDATE ANNOUNCING NEW PRE-TRAVEL TESTING
PROGRAM: Beginning August 1, all travelers arriving in Hawaii
from out-of-state will be required to get a valid COVID-19 test
within 72 hours of their trip, and to show proof of a negative
test result at the airport, to avoid the 14-day quarantine. The
FDA-approved PCR test from a CLIA-certified laboratory will
need to be done prior to arrival. No testing will be provided
upon arrival at the airport.
(1) My reservation request to cancel this reservation was
made more than 60 days prior to check in date of
9/4/2020.
(2) The travel ban was issued subsequent to my
reservation.
(3) COVID19 tests are not readily available in the State of
Arizona. The State of Arizona is the leading state for the
rise of positive cases.
· Tests are given to those who are experiencing
symptoms.
· Test are given to essential workers.
· Test are given for essential travel.
· Even when all of the above are met, people wait in
lines, for hours to get tested. Some have to go
back several times to get tested, because the
testing site ran out of tests, or ran out of time.
(4) Even if COVID19 tests were readily available, the
traveling members under this reservation do not have
extra day(s) off prior to a 10 day vacation to obtain this.
Not to mention the multiple things that could wrong.
(5) In the event, one of the traveling members test positive,
we would be unable to travel. At that point, 3 days
prior to travel, it would most definitely be too late to
cancel this reservation with refund.
(6) Moving the dates as requested by the host is not
financially feasible. As a family we would still like to
take a much needed vacation, and unfortunately AirBnB
and this host, keeping our money for a future date,
creates a financial hardship to travel anywhere else at
this time.
This reservation and the unwillingness of AirBnB and this host,
has caused much undue stress during an already difficult time.
Please cancel this reservation and refund 100% immediately

@Marisa434  You have posted this on what is just a discussion forum for hosts and guests. This isn't Airbnb customer service. No one here can do anything about your reservation.

I don't understand why you didn't just cancel the reservation and submit whatever documentation was required. You don't need to involve the host in that. If Airbnb considers it a valid cancellation under COVID, you'll be refunded. Hosts don't get paid until 24 hours after a guest checks in- the host doesn't have your money to refund, Airbnb does.

@Marisa434

I can see that your problem is probably caused by booking a vacation in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic on 6/18/2020. You would have been fully aware of this and the risk you would have been taking.

Airbnb contracts at that time communicated that Covid-19 was not a valid reason for cancellation and their EC policy would not apply. Consequently, you would not have an option to cancel for that reason.

Unless you have travel insurance to cover your losses, or you fulfil the obligated travel requirements, contractually you would need to accept the hosts cancellation policy.

It would be unfair to suggest the pursuance of a Covid cancellation as this would not be applicable.
