Propane Usage for Pools and hot tubs

Any hosts on here have pools/hot tubs that are heated with propane? We are in Lake Havasu City, Arizona and have this situation. We are wondering how you monitor and charge for the propane used. Do you have a certain formula or just charge by the day?

How to charge for pool heating has been discussed before, although the author of this post writes about a pool which heater runs on electricity.
