So we have this budget toasters in our apartments, I have one at my home, my daughter has it, my mother has it and we have the same one in our holiday home. We use it all the time for sandwiches and for toasting the bread 🙂
Our American guests said we should get a PROPER toaster !
I would like to know what the hell is it? Is it something like Mercedes among toasters? Does it bake the bread, make sandwitches and bring them to you in the bed? Does it babysit too ...? :)))
ok @Jessica-and-Henry0 teach us why is it so special and what do you use it for? to toast sandwiches, bake a bread, fry meat...?
It makes terrific toast.....even when you are using old, stale bread. It's more or less the same as a toaster oven....... but uses steam to make the bread nice and soft 🙂 so it's not like any plain old toaster oven. It is also great for heating up croissants! Makes them taste like they are freshly baked, right out of the oven, every time~
George Forman grill! We use a small one in our cabin in the Adirondacks to make toast & melty sandwiches!
@Branka-and-Silvia0 LOL, I would call it a sandwich press, but I would never complain about it....we have in the unit a microwave, a drip coffee maker, a french press [only because drip making despite we thought being 'idiot' proof, seems to give some guests trouble], an "American" toaster, a non electric veggie chopper and an imersion blender [only because we never used it].
I'm not surprised they're a complete mess. You aren't supposed to toast sandwiches in a toaster, they're for bread, bagels and English muffins. Anything else goes in a sandwich maker, which is that thing you've got.
BTW, toasters are easy to clean, unless you do something super stupid like try to toast a sandwich in them. You just pull out the crumb tray and wipe it down, and turn the toaster upside down over the sink and give it a gentle shake. Easy.
@Branka-and-Silvia0Oh, Americans can be such whiners! Tell them to suck it up and try something new!
I would call what you have a sandwhich maker. Americans are definitely more used to the pop-up type toasters, although oasters are pretty limited in what they can do. I offer a toaster oven. It is capable of toasting breads & bagels, cooking pizzas, roasting meats and vegetables, broiling anything. It is the single most useful appliance I own! Also keeps the kitchen cooler in the summer, as I do not need to use a big, kitchen heating oven any longer. I have had no complaints from guests using it and they have all figured out how to toast bread using it.
this is not common in Croatia, I've seen it in stores but none of my friends have it or use it (at least I haven't seen it in their kitchens) so I wonder is it difficult to clean after guests leave?
(I unplugged my kitchen oven because i don't have enough time to scrub it between my back to back bookings. )

My favourite line of the day.
Using a toaster oven just to make toast is crazy. The amount of power you're wasting is eye-watering.
Maybe put a diagram or message in English near your toaster, explaining how it works to toast bread. I’ve personally never used one like that and wouldn’t necessarily see that machine and think “toaster.”
If there were some simple instructions, I would use it, if I wanted toast, no complaints. (But I’m not that picky about toast anyway.)
I meant your toaster.
don't worry, it is very user-friendly and intuitive .... if you can use Airbnb website you could use my toaster too 😄 😄
@Branka-and-Silvia0 @Rebecca160 @Beth80 @Ben551 @Ria16 I have a 4 slice toaster in my Airbnb Cottage.
@Branka-and-Silvia0: I would say a toaster oven is your best bet as it is the most versatile. We have a pop-up toaster (funny story btw @Ann72) but we are going to add a toaster oven soon. The pop-up toaster being the easiet of the two to clean.
No one really uses that George Foreman Grill you are showing anymore 🙂
Someone put pancakes in your toaster.
