Meeting all the members of the Host Advisory Board in person, after connecting online for years, was truly remarkable—during the host week event held at Airbnb HQ on 9th and 10th of September,2024!
This was the second time I’ve had the opportunity to visit Airbnb’s headquarters in San Francisco as a member of the Host Advisory Board, and I must say, it felt like coming home. The warmth and friendliness of everyone I encountered—from the entrance all the way to each of the teams we worked with—was astonishing. Whether in casual conversations or during the working sessions, everyone was eager to hear what we had to say. Even during breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it was a non-stop listening session. This openness and willingness to listen was truly admirable. It felt like reconnecting with people I’ve known forever, even though I hadn’t yet had the chance to hug them, share experiences, and laugh together in person. Professionally and on a personal level, it was a human experience I will never forget.
During the host feedback sessions, the attention to detail was extraordinary: Teams from across Airbnb joined, carefully listened to us, and took notes. As hosts, it was special to truly feel like distinguished guests. From the moment we arrived, Airbnb made us feel welcome, comfortable, and encouraged us to stay true to our honest and constructive spirit.
The most unforgettable moment was meeting CEO Brian Chesky. Brian gave us a warm welcome and explained the importance of the hosting community and listening to hosts from around the world. Then, came the time for questions. We were asked to share our stories as hosts and answer the thoughtful questions employees had submitted. These were deep, well-considered questions that made us reflect and respond not only on a personal level but also on behalf of our hosting communities. In all of them, we felt a genuine interest in learning more about the art of hosting.
What I’m sharing isn’t just a feel-good leadership story. This is the reality of how Airbnb made us feel: heard, valued, and supported.
Brian Chesky himself put the Host Advisory Board at the heart of the company, in a gesture of complete honesty, by asking for our feedback and then truly listening to it. As a member of the Host Advisory Board, but especially as a host, I couldn't be more proud to be part of a company whose CEO takes the time to listen to his community. It’s a privilege and a competitive advantage that not many companies can boast.
Airbnb love!
