Time flies so fast, and now October is here, with 2024 already three-quarters gone. Looking back on September, I can honestly say it’s been the busiest month of my life, but ironically, it was the slowest month for hosting.
When I started hosting nine years ago, I never imagined I would visit Airbnb’s headquarters, meet the co-founder, or become deeply engaged with the host community. Before the pandemic, my hosting journey had run smoothly, and I preferred keeping to myself, enjoying the quiet of hosting on my own.
However, the past two years have been transformative. I’ve had the honor of serving on the Airbnb Host Advisory Board, and my second year has been full of incredible and unexpected experiences—from being a torchbearer in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 this July to an invitation to Airbnb’s headquarters in San Francisco in September 2024.
One of the highlights of the San Francisco trip was visiting Airbnb’s headquarters and meeting co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky during a Q&A session. I had the privilege of listening to my fellow hosts from the Host Advisory Board, who represented 23 advisors from 16 different countries, as they asked questions directly to Brian. It was a powerful moment that demonstrated Airbnb’s commitment to community engagement and truly listening to hosts’ feedback. The session was informative, warm, and vibrant. Even the famous Sophie, Brian’s dog, was there to greet everyone.
What an incredible and unforgettable experience!
Thank you so much, @Sarah5000 for this insight! So great to see old and new fellows 😍
It would be lovely one day if we all meet together.
I feel exactly the same way @Sarah5000 and I truly feel lucky to be part of the HAB.
It made me love Airbnb even more and feel that it’s truly a company I can trust.
I truly want to share this sense of trust and connection with as many members as possible.

You are doing it and you shares your story in your community is already influencing people.
Well done Sarah, you are an inspiration! I love reading about your Airbnb journey coming
What a fantastic recap, Sarah! And wow, Sophie? Total dream! You've been hosting a year longer than me, and while my hosting year has been good, I’ve definitely noticed a lot of change around the world. My gut tells me it’s really all about inventory right now. As markets sort themselves out, amazing hosts with big hearts – like YOU – will definitely thrive. It’s just part of running a small business. There are always ebbs and tides, but those ups and downs only make us stronger entrepreneurs in the end!
You are right , the market will solve it out —one word “ equilibrium“ .
