I'll be one stay short of 10 (over previous 12 months) to requalify as superhost in October's assessment. Airbnb blocked my calendar from March to July (3 months and refunded all my bookings) which didn't help. If the cancelled (strict policy) bookings were counted I would meet the 10 stays required , but they're not being counted, even though Airbnb paid me 12.5% of the value of these cancellations (thank you...)
@Lizzie Are there plans to waive the re-qualifying criteria for Superhost status again in October? If not, wouldn't it be fairer to those hosts who had bookings cancelled in the UK (late March until 3rd July) to allow the cancelled stays to count towards eligibility (10 completed stays or 100 nights during previous 12 months?) I meet all other criteria.
I realise there's a bigger debate here about the value of superhost status, but I'd rather have it than not have it, and I've worked hard to earn an unbroken record of 5* reviews.
Thanks
Jerry
@Jerry250 You DO realise that Superhost assessment is based on performance over the previous TWELVE months? - So loosing the last week in March, plus April, May & June + the first 3 days in July, should not affect hosts? We in the UK will have been hosting for almost 9 months in that period, so plenty of time to have hosted the magic 10 stays.... 🙂
@Helen350 Yes I realise it is 10 stays over 12 months. I will have 9. If the stays Airbnb cancelled in those 3 months had gone ahead I would have had 15. A sleeps 10 house in Norfolk is pretty seasonal business and relies on Bank Holidays (2 cancelled) Easter (1 cancelled) and early Summer (May and June all cancelled).
"... if you’re a current Superhost, we’ve decided to extend your status through March 31, 2021 (for the next two assessments) as long as you continue to uphold your 90% response rate and 4.8 overall rating.
For this extension, we’ll be waiving our usual criteria for:
@Michelle53 Thank you so much for the linked update issued 20th August. (My superhost dashboard is still showing 'please review upcoming changes'). I meet all the other criteria, so all being well I will maintain status until March 2021.
@Mike-And-Jane0 I'm less worried about the $100 credit and can live without it. I do believe turning up in more searches is a real benefit.
@Jerry250 what @Michelle53 posted is the good news. The bad news(because there has to balance in the World) is that unless you meet all 4 criteria you won't get the $100 credit from Airbnb.
Hey @Jerry250,
Looks like @Michelle53 and @Mike-And-Jane0 has provided you with the latest update on the Superhost Assessments until March 2021. Hopefully this helps to put your mind at rest. Catherine Powell also talks about the assessment decision in her latest update.
I hope hosting is going well for you. Cromer is a lovely part of the UK, I have many fond memories of visiting Norfolk when I was younger. I remember staying in Sheringham. 🙂
Hope to speak again soon.
Lizzie
(Thanks Michelle & Mike)

@Lizzie thank you for responding and also for linking to Catherine Powell's latest update (which I missed). Yes Michelle and Mike very kindly helped me out with the info I was looking for - community in action!
It's been a busy summer hosting. North Norfolk is ever popular - and multi-generational families in particular enjoy coming to our large home in Cromer, which is right by the beach.
Lizzie - there's a fabulous new aerial video of the North Norfolk Railway steam train trip from Sheringham to Holt here (if the link is allowed) treasure your Sheringham memories https://youtu.be/aWKBV05MVCQ
Hi Vicky here from Derbyshire. I wonder if Airbnb are going to review the criteria for Superhost as before. Like others I will have hosted only 9 trips and have been prevented from hosting anyone during lockdown since late December 2020. No hosting allowed until April 12th 2021 means that I can’t get that extra booking. Would Airbnb consider allowing the status to continue, not giving the bonus until a further three month period has happened during which we are able to host again. It would seem extremely unfair for hosts to have to qualify over a new 12 month period for the reward.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
