Suspension policy

@Catherine-Powell  This new suspension policy has gone too far.  My listing has a pizza oven, and I wrote in the description "pizza oven is perfect for those party nights."  In no way was this encouraging out of control parties or "events."  However, in order to comply, I changed the verbiage, but I am unable to appeal the suspension for 30 days.  The suspension directives should begin with encouraging hosts to correct descriptions rather than suspending everyone.

@Lydia402

Is your listing suspended for 30 days just because of that "party-oven" ?

added:

BTW i noticed there is 1 listing in your account, this one is not suspended, as it is also in the search system.

I see this sentence in the description (did you put it there or Airbnb ? 😞

*ACCORDING TO CURRENT AIRBNB RULES, "parties" and "events" are not allowed. Please refrain from using those words in any request.

@Katie,

Can you please reach out to @Lydia402 regarding the current status of her listing?  It would be ridiculous that it's suspended just because of wording in the description.

@Lydia402   Pretty gutsy move to open a home for up to 16 guests in the middle of a pandemic!  Looks lovely and you have great reviews.  I don't even pretend to understand the reasoning of Air BNB but I would think your 5 bedroom home that is set up for 16 guests (maximum size on this platform) with no rule to forbid parties might get on the radar.  I suggest you consider changing to 14 guests (maybe remove the 3rd bed/air mattress), add a minimum of 2 days (avoids single night party) and add a no party rule.  How did you find out the pizza oven language was the culprit with the suspension?

Thanks for the tag @Debra300 😊

Hi @Lydia402, welcome to the Community, and sorry to hear your listing has been suspended. I checked in with the Support team and they said you're now in contact with them, so fingers crossed they can assist you here.

Hi Katie, I just read your message to Lydia. Same thing has happened to me that happened to Lydia. Can you instruct me as to how I can get in contact with a real person on a support team? I would love to speak with a real person. Thank you! Judi

@Katie

The same thing has happened to me we've been suspended for 30 days. We've got a karaoke machine in the cinema room. We put in the description it has 'led lights to create the ultimate karaoke party night!'

In no way are we advertising the property as a party house. We've even put in the description no house parties allowed. Could you please instruct me as to how I can get in contact with a real person? Thank you.

@Nick Thank you so much for responding. Have replied back to your DM. Thanks once again.

@Catherine-Powell @Katie   Hi Katie, Could you possibly help me get in communication with a support team like you did Lydia? I too have had my Airbnb suspended for 30 days for one sentence in my description that has been in there since I opened my Airbnb. My Airbnb is called Grandmas House, The home is 100 years old, which is my childhood family home and in a small community in Northern Illinois. At 1:30 AM I get a message from Airbnb, Eve, claiming that they have suspended my Airbnb and removed it from the platform for 30 days because my description says the home is “open and spacious and perfect for an event”. (And event to me as a 65-year-old woman living in a small town is a family event, a memorial luncheon, a baby shower, whatever my guests would like to have with their family)  I’ve never advertised for parties and I’ve never allowed parties. She also canceled my guests reservation and remove them from my calendar, they were supposed to be coming in two days for a week.  I am devastated. I wrote a long appeal beseeching them to please reconsider. I’ve been a super host for three years straight and I take great pride in my Airbnb. I run an excellent Airbnb. A person only has to read my feedback to know what kind of a host I am and what kind of a house it is.. People feel like they are at their own grandma’s .  I finally got a response back from the same person named Eve that said, I’ve reviewed it and the decision stands. Case closed. I am really sad and heartbroken that Airbnb has treated me like this. This is a disciplinary action and I’ve done nothing wrong. I have always felt up until this time that Airbnb supported their host and hostesses. I love Airbnb! Can you help me get in touch with someone? I would love to speak with the support team. I just don’t understand. This seems so out of character for Airbnb to do this. Thank you very much! Judith Friel

Hi @Judith373, thanks for sharing your experience here, and for your DM. I have reached out to Support on your behalf, so I will reply to your message as soon as I hear back 😊

Hi @@Katie,  I haven’t heard anything from the support team have you heard back from them yet? Thank you, Judi

Hi @Katie,

My account was suspended supposedly for bad reviews (we've only had 2 out of 150+ and that was a misunderstanding )

I have a 4.6 rating and was on track for Superhost AGAIN.

I rec'd an email stating that they were suspending our account and to reply to the email to contest it which I did, with review documentation, photos, etc.

I've rec'd NO response or even an acknowledgement. And I've now spent over 8 hours on the phone and email with various reps trying to resolve the issue or at least get an answer.

I don't know what to do... small claims court to recoup some of the money I'm losing and just move on?
