Suspension policy

@Catherine-Powell  This new suspension policy has gone too far.  My listing has a pizza oven, and I wrote in the description "pizza oven is perfect for those party nights."  In no way was this encouraging out of control parties or "events."  However, in order to comply, I changed the verbiage, but I am unable to appeal the suspension for 30 days.  The suspension directives should begin with encouraging hosts to correct descriptions rather than suspending everyone.

The same thing has happened to me we've been suspended for 30 days. We've got a karaoke machine in the cinema room. We put in the description it has 'led lights to create the ultimate karaoke party night!' 

In no way are we advertising the property as a party house. We've even put in the description no house parties allowed. Could you please instruct me as to how I can get in contact with a real person? Thank you.

Thanks everyone for your responses! Fortunately, I was able to get an email reply from an actual person that allowed me to reinstate the listing. Very aggravating to have the support contacts be 3rd party and completely unable to do anything or even be in contact with AirBnB at all. The worst, though, was the inability to appeal the suspension for 30 days.   And yes, the listing was really and truly suspended for saying "pizza oven is perfect for those party nights." I changed the wording. 

Glad you got reinstated. I can't even get an answer to WHY I was suspended or for how long. What is the purpose of this???? I don't get it.

Hi Lydia, Sorry to hear this happened to you as well. Did they also cancel your guests bookings within that 30 days? How did you get in contact with a real person from a support team? So it’s looking like they did the same thing to me. I had the Word “event” in my description. I have never advertised for or solicited or allowed parties. Just what pertains to a family event such as a luncheon or shower and such. I wa s devastated by this. Losing over 1200.00 in just the first week. Shutting me down for getting Thanksgiving bookings. What did you do to get reinstated after you reached a real person? I removed the “wordage” immediately. The language and tone of my suspension felt like a hit job. They stated if I relisted  my property I would be banned permanently! I’ve been a super host for three years! Airbnb has never treated me like this before. I’m still in shock over it and desperate for them to help me. Thank you for sharing your story! Happy to hear they turned your listing back on. How long does it take? Judi

That's weird and unfortunate, but not surprising.  Airbnb in terms of how it works with hosts has never been about help/educate/improve but always punishment.  They might take a leaf out of the NFL's book, where the league's goal isn't to punish teams that fail their COVID protocols, but to get them to improve and stop failing, what a concept. 

Thanks Mark!  I’m just in shock. I hope they didn’t remove my super host status because I’ve been super host since the beginning since the very first time I could be eligible for a super host I am always a super host. For almost 3 straight years and that’s about how long I’ve been on Airbnb. It’s just shocking when you don’t do anything wrong and you get hit like this and then have no recourse. Very helpless feeling and it’s costing me financially.  Judi
