As the rules are all changing and we hosts have to find our way in this mess to help everyone out I find myself in a position of conflict currently.
This morning I was sent an email asking to refund a guest 34,880 JPY or decline and lastly offer a different amount. I wanted to think about it during the day as its all a little new to me and at some point or another, I actually had a nap pondering the situation.
I want to be fair as Airbnb is refunding guests 100% and I thought I should be doing the same.
When I woke up a little later in the afternoon I had notice that there was a payout for the very same guest of 32,000 JPY or thereabouts. Thinking that I was now the recipient of my cancelled guest's money I immediately refunded the guy as per Airbnb previous email.
The refund left me over 2,000 JPY short. The guest got his money back 100% and I lost 2,000 JPY due to the coronavirus.
I was playing fair with my guests but now Airbnb has forced me to re-assess the situation.
Why the hell should I be paying for my guest not to stay. I don't write the policies. I also want my money refunded for the difference of two refunds I did.
Stop slipping the knife in Airbnb and play for both sides
I should not have slept as I am now 2,000 JPY in the red
