Hi everyone, Is anyone else concerned that Joe Gebbia has joined DOGE? Does he still earn income from Airbnb as a board membe...

To say that i would be disappointed if Joe Gebbia remains with the board and gets involved in DOGE would be an understatement. DOGE's approach does not align with the AirBnB community standards. Gebbia should resign from the Board as its a true conflict. Interacting honestly, combating hate, harassment and discrimination, and the privacy policies in place with AirBnB and those are not the DOGE approach. Gebbia=gotta go or people (hosts and and guests) will lessen and the stock price will drop. I, for one will never use AirBnB again if Gebbia remains and joins DOGE and I will ensure than none of my family members or friends book either.
Thank you. I agree completely.
I understand your concerns about Gebbia’s involvement with both Airbnb and DOGE. While Airbnb has strict community standards, DOGE operates in a more decentralized, open space. If this is a dealbreaker for you, voting with your wallet is a strong stance. It will be interesting to see if Airbnb or its users respond to this potential conflict.
I've loves Air BnB for years but will now be looking at other options.
First it is difficult to comprehend why Chesky has been crickets on this. As far as this longtime user and host is concerned, allowing Gebbia to keep his board seat, receive compensation as a "consultant", and hold 7% of the company's stock is so risky as to be a dereliction of fiduciary duty by the Air board of directors. As a publicly traded company they do not have the luxury of doing as they please and looking the other way. Already, hosts in Maine are reporting cancellations due to this careless move. I am furious as this is playing with my livelihood. Perhaps, billionaires can afford to be glib, most asset owners, those of us who have enriched these folks through our hard work and investment, are not as fortunate.
If you are not yet using other platforms, do your research relative to diversifying how guests find you. You may need to launch your own URL and find ways to market your property directly.
If you haven't looked at the Air stock today or seen the news that yet another city (New Orleans) is outlawing short term rentals, its a wake up call!
I completely agree. I am a Superhost and will remove my listing and go to VBRO if Airbnb has any association with DOGE. Airbnb previously supported hosting Afghan refugees and other community-building efforts, but DOGE is doing the exact opposite and firing thousands of hard working federal workers and contractors.
Planning to leave also. Giving it a week.
What happens in a week? We deactivated our two listings.
I've used AirBnB for years and as of this morning, I canceled my next stay and will use other booking options until Gebbia resigns. This is a huge disappointment.
We will be cancelling our listings with Airbnb and will never book through this company again.
Thank you for this. I have had so many wonderful trips in AirBnb's, but I will boycott and the stay where I'm taking my elderly mother in May will be my last if he remains on that board. I dropped Target for dropping DEI, as did so many others. Their stock is tanking. There is power in boycott.
I will no longer use Airbnb because of this. There's other options out there.
Could not agree more. I have a number of bookings for my property but now looking at VRBO and direct rental options now. Just can't stomach working with a company which is led by anyone that supports the current US administration and DOGE and what they stand for. It was easy to avoid booking myself into ABNB or boycott purchases at retailers and e-tailers but leaving the ABNB platform to secure guests to my vacation home will involve some work. But principles matter.
Joe Gebbia has already stayed silent too long. I book in Ireland for long stays three times a year and the U.S. several times a year as well. Never considered another option until now. I will no longer use AirBnb

We typically stay at vacation rentals 4-5 times a year and most of the time they've been AirBnB properties. We are in the process of deciding where to stay for our upcoming spring break trip, and as long as Gebbia is both involved with DOGE and AirBnB we will not be staying at any AirBnB properties.
