Its DOGE or AirBnB but not both
To say that i would be disappointed if Joe Gebbia remains with the board and gets involved in DOGE would be an understatement. DOGE's approach does not align with the AirBnB community standards. Gebbia should resign from the Board as its a true conflict. Interacting honestly, combating hate, harassment and discrimination, and the privacy policies in place with AirBnB and those are not the DOGE approach. Gebbia=gotta go or people (hosts and and guests) will lessen and the stock price will drop. I, for one will never use AirBnB again if Gebbia remains and joins DOGE and I will ensure than none of my family members or friends book either.

I've used AirBnB for years and as of this morning, I canceled my next stay and will use other booking options until Gebbia resigns. This is a huge disappointment.

We will be cancelling our listings with Airbnb and will never book through this company again.

Thank you for this. I have had so many wonderful trips in AirBnb's, but I will boycott and the stay where I'm taking my elderly mother in May will be my last if he remains on that board. I dropped Target for dropping DEI, as did so many others. Their stock is tanking. There is power in boycott.

I will no longer use Airbnb because of this. There's other options out there.

Could not agree more. I have a number of bookings for my property but now looking at VRBO and direct rental options now. Just can't stomach working with a company which is led by anyone that supports the current US administration and DOGE and what they stand for. It was easy to avoid booking myself into ABNB or boycott purchases at retailers and e-tailers but leaving the ABNB platform to secure guests to my vacation home will involve some work. But principles matter.

Joe Gebbia has already stayed silent too long. I book in Ireland for long stays three times a year and the U.S. several times a year as well. Never considered another option until now. I will no longer use AirBnb
OPTIONS:
vrbo
booking.com
expedia.com
homestay
staycity aparthotels
Ireland Home Rentals
Dream Ireland
The Irish Landmark Trust
Hostelworld

We typically stay at vacation rentals 4-5 times a year and most of the time they've been AirBnB properties. We are in the process of deciding where to stay for our upcoming spring break trip, and as long as Gebbia is both involved with DOGE and AirBnB we will not be staying at any AirBnB properties.

PLEASE BE FULLY INFORMED BEFORE URGING A BOYCOTT! I am reposting to every related thread. Thanks!
Before you're tempted to boycott...
Don’t throw out the AIRBNB baby along with the bathwater!
Take action, but please DON’T BOYCOTT! There’s something else you can do. Otherwise, you’ll hurt DISPLACED PERSONS in need of housing and mom-and-pop HOSTS like me. Read on!
CONCERN: Joe Gebbia, co-founder of Airbnb, has just joined DOGE. There are loud calls to boycott Airbnb. But…
KEY BACKGROUND: There are TWO Airbnb companies: .COM and .ORG. Notice that the second is a not-for-profit company. ORG provides FREE housing for displaced people all over the Globe – Ukraine, LA fires (19,000 people so far), Southeast Georgia floods, Greece earthquakes, and many others. Hosts can contribute $$ or their rental unit to help fund it. Check out their website.
GEBBIA: He’s the Chairman of .ORG. He stepped away from any executive role at .COM years ago, though he is still on the board and an 8% owner.
TAKE ACTION: Skip the boycott and continue to help others who are desperate, and go right to the top. Tell the other co-founders you want Gebbia removed from the .COM Board and the leadership team at .ORG. Email Brian Chesky - the Chairman and CEO of .COM, as well as Nathan Blecharczyk - Chief Strategy Officer of .COM. (See email addresses below.)
Boycotts are effective, but so is deluging leaders with our opinions. The latter doesn’t hurt those who are being helped.
PLEASE SHARE WIDELY!
EMAILS: This message won't post with specific email addresses so please pardon the gibberish...

Money talks. Emails won't be enough. I just booked a atay and have used Airbnb around the world. I value my positive reviews and have turned many friends onto the platform but we have to send a BIG message as consumers that we will not support Airbnb in any way or form. I'm done playing nice and signing petitions and flooding inboxes. I'm using VRBO from now on. It's sad because I was a loyal user. But I won't support greed and corruption.

After we complete our current reservations, as not to negatively impact airbnb Owners & existing reservations for them, we will NO LONGER use Airbnb. We have ZERO interest in supporting fascism: Kiss the ring - kiss our patronage good-bye.

Well said! I am so happy to see this thread and see that hosts and users are taking action. There is a current call for an Airbnb boycott and if it is anything like Target, they can expect to see millions of lost revenue just in 30 days. Money creates pressure - they need to remove Joe Gebbia from the Board immediately or risk losing users and profit. I've been on Airbnb 11 years and will now switch to VRBO and other platforms happily if they want to keep him.

I completely agree! We’ve been Super Hosts consistently since we first listed our venues; both of our rentals are also identified as Guest Favorites. Our success can be attributed to the Air BnB platform but also our approach to hosting. We treat all of our guests with warmth, kindness, compassion, and a genuine drive to ensure their satisfaction. This has not only reflected in our high ratings and repeat guests but also benefitted Air BnB! I wholeheartedly expect Air BnB to take the steps necessary to distance itself from DOGE. If it does not, hosts will lose guests and the platform will lose great hosts! Both results are a lose-lose outcome. If Air BnB wants to remain in business…this is a no brainer!
