What’s the Most Memorable Way You’ve Gone the Extra Mile for a Guest?

One of the things I love about hosting is creating special moments for my guests. Sometimes, it’s the little unexpected touches that leave the biggest impact—whether it’s surprising a honeymoon couple with a small gift, helping a guest celebrate a birthday, or simply offering a local recommendation that turns into the highlight of their trip.

I try to go the extra mile when I can, whether by adding special kitchen staples, offering local insights, or being available for any extra requests since I live nearby. It’s always rewarding to see how small gestures can make a big difference.

I’d love to hear from other hosts—what’s the most memorable thing you’ve done (or seen another host do) to make a guest’s stay extra special?

@Kathy134 New Year's Eve balloons and Valentine's Day candy so far.  Looking for more opportunities to add special touches!

@Jamie1223 That’s awesome! 🎉🎈 Guests appreciate those little surprises.

I love the balloons for New Year! Any ideas for Easter? 🐣🌸

Hi @Kathy134 ,

What about some beautiful flowers in various rooms to celebrate springtime?

Or an (easy) Easter Egg Hunt? If there will be children, maybe some candies or little toys in the eggs. If only adults, maybe local treats or coupons to local places “hidden” around the property.

Beautiful rental!

Best of luck!

Hi @Julie5882 !

I love those ideas!  Adding fresh flowers would definitely bring a nice spring touch, and the Easter Egg Hunt sounds like such a fun way to surprise guests—especially with local treats or little surprises inside. Thanks for the inspiration! I might have to try it this year. 😊

Appreciate your kind words and suggestions!

Cool ideas! Thanks!

Hi @Jamie1223 , other than Valentine's day candy , did you add any other special touches for guests? One of our host Guy also shared how they hosted a 👉Valentine’s Check-In👈 by sharing flowers with guests.  What do you think about their idea?

Do you plan any Easter themed special touches as well? Our host @Kathy134 is really curious below 😍🥚

Hi! 😊 Thanks for joining the conversation! @Elisa

I first started hosting about seven years ago when I rented out my apartment in Bogotá while moving to Los Angeles. It was such a rewarding experience! After a long break, I’m now back to hosting in Miami, and I’m excited to fine-tune my space and connect with this amazing community.

Looking forward to hearing everyone’s thoughts! Thanks for tagging other hosts!

Hi @Kathy134 😊

Thank you for letting me know!

I saw your listing in Miami, it looks gorgeous! 😍 Did you design it yourself?

My pleasure to tag other hosts, it’s nice to connect with each other!

Warm regards, 🌻

Thank you so much for your kind words! That means a lot! Yes, my husband and I designed it together, we put a lot of thought into making it both stylish and welcoming. It was a fun process, especially working on all the little details to make the space feel special for our guests.

It’s so nice to be back and see how this community has such a wonderful spirit and so much inspiration to share!

Buongiorno @Kathy134 and @Elisa ,

I personally helped foreign guests to celebrate Carnival in Venice at their best, not only by telling them which were the best parties but also by giving them the address of a shop where they could rent their carnival costume!

They were very, very happy and sent me a photo with their costumes! 😊
