Very horrific guest suicide.

Ok so a pre warning before you read on this is a bit of an intense subject.

We have been super hosts on airbnb for about 5 years, we have had to deal with some bad situations in the last 5 years but absolutely nothing could have prepared us for what happened. We had a guest make a booking for several weeks and everything seemed fine aside from poor communication through airbnb messages. The single male guest checked in on the 10th of July 2024, On the 12th of July his wife contacted us because she was unable to contact her parter and asked for access to the listing. **Warning this is where it gets intense** . ******[Graphic content removed]

Due to external camera footage and other evidence they concluded it was a suicide.

The police took the body only and they left us with a complete horror scene to deal with. We had to first try and find someone to clean the space and were able to book highly specialised forensic cleaners in for the next day (13th July) we had to cover all the costs of this immediately. The forensic cleaners completed the first stage of cleaning then required a second visit to put a complete scope of works together detailing what must be done to rectify the space. Basically due to the fact that there was such an incredible amount of blood and it is was sitting for several days going septic, it had soaked into the subfloor and to properly rectify the damage it requires that basically the area needs to be partially demolished, subfloors treated and then reinstated. The total cost with the cleaning, items destroyed and construction costs to allow the subfloors to be treated has come to $138,793.34 It has now been over four weeks and we have had very little support from Airbnb and are still waiting for some assistance. Everyone involved has been completely traumatised (It was the most blood the forensic cleaners had ever seen on a Job) it has seriously been one of the worst most unexpected things we have ever had to deal with. We are hoping airbnb can quickly assist us from here. I'm not sure is anyone has ever had anything like this happen?
