What a Celebration.

We all came into this world at some point here was me in my first year......

I could do something then I can't do now.....grow hair!

29,230 days have passed and we have just taken our family down to Hobart, the most southerly city in Australia to celebrate my 80th birthday.

Spent the first 6 hours in the Adelaide Airport trying to track down an aircraft!!

I finally got us down to Hobart.....

Time for celebrations to begin......

We stayed in wonderful Airbnb accommodation in the hills outside of Hobart overlooking 11/12th of the island of Tasmania.

The property is set on 150 acres and  the host Clarissa has 5 Airbnb rental houses that take in views to die for. Unfortunately photos do not do it justice.

The property is teeming with wildlife....all of it tame and keen to have interaction with us humans.....

The wallabies literally came up and knocked on the door looking for food treats.

The family were all excited about getting to MONA ( Museum of Old and New Art)

Even the grandies........

Ade never missed the opportunity for a glass of bubbles.......

We went cruising the Derwent River on the Mona Roma.....

Mona is that sort of place you need to spend a week in. Everything absolutely taxes your senses from 3 genuine Faberge eggs, the oil room, a room with a mechanical replication of the human digestive system.

They feed a chicken schnitzel in one end and a real life sh*t comes out the other, to all the most amazing original artwork including hand written letters by Adolf Hitler!......

Nothing like having a drop of beer and dealing with an uncooperative rooster in the oldest brewery in Australia.....

And here is where that young face has ended up.......

So lovely to have my beautiful family around me and enjoy the lovely city of Hobart. Weather cooperated, I couldn't have asked for more. I am a lucky guy......even if I am 80.......Robin4_0-1724769767267.png

Cheers........Rob.

It's always great to end up with a good bottle of wine!

How long did it take you to organize this trip? Was it easy for you to find accomodation?

I wish you a wonderful day! 🌻

@Quincy

We stayed in a great Airbnb listing at a place called Mt Rumney. The house sleeps 10 and has the most fantastic views. One of the highlights was the 1.5 Kms of dirt road from the bitumen into the property, We were just open mouthed at this cavalcade of wonderful scenery.

It was only 12 minutes from the centre of Hobart and about the same from the airport and yet it was so peaceful, so rural, so filled with friendly wildlife.

It was a holiday that had everything Quincy, we had the bustle of central Hobart, a river cruise, the pure joy of going back to 'MONA' again and visiting a number of sites that stemmed from the birth of white colonisation in Australia.

And to do it with my family all together is an experience I will remember long into the future!

I didn't think anything would ever top my 70th....but this was right up there.

Cheers........Rob.

@Robin4 , thanks for sharing @Robin4. Reading your comments and seeing your pictures makes me feel like I’m there too (now I can check off Hobart as places visited). lol. Glad to see you are living and enjoying your life. Great way to see the glass half full versus half empty (especially with everything going on in the world today).

Happy Belated Birthday! We (myself and my six other siblings) will be celebrating our father’s 90th this weekend.

Best—
