Guest's profile pictures are hidden from hosts by Airbnb until after a booking is confirmed- that's not something the guest is doing. It is supposed to cut down on discrimination, so a host couldn't decline a guest based on their race, etc. 

 But you can still read the guest's reviews, if he has any, and communicate with guests enough so that you get a sense of whether you want to accept their booking or not.
