I saw that. I'm a bit surprised. Airbnb doesn't usually remove guest reviews. 

I'm left suspecting something like Occam's razor. Simplest explanation: it's random. There isn't a method. Somebody takes a quick look, decides one way or another. Next...

@Lisa723 Oh, that old "I'm thinking of writing a column about this" trick.

It's telling that the journalist was willing to directly quote several members of the support staff, but unwilling to cite a single word of his actual review.
