guest won't respond

Hi,

When we get a reservation request from a person who has no reviews, we like to know a little bit about them...so I ask for them to please share a bit about their group as this helps me see if it's legit reservation. (I don't ask anything specific, just whatever they may want to share. People usually say: who is coming on the trip, is it a special occasion, etc.)

 

I accepted a reservation the other day and asked my normal question and cannot get the guest to respond. I am feeling uncomfortable with this and am wondering if anyone has any insight on this issue? (ps-I have had 100% compliance for this request until now)

@Missy4   It's also possible for you to wait until the guest responds to your questions before accepting the request. Once the booking is confirmed, the guest isn't going to have any urgency to write back to you quickly.

There are plenty of new folk who don't actually use the app, @Missy4, so they may not see your message, especially those who don't check emails etc.

@Missy4  Some guests simply don't bother to respond well and promptly, for which there could be several understandable reasons, so unless the booking dates are imminent, give them a couple of days- they may be on a camping trip with no internet or phone reception, they may be quite busy, maybe they don't check their email or Airbnb messages.

If the reservation is confirmed, you'll have the guest's phone number and can text or call them, alerting them to the fact that you've sent them an Airbnb message you need a response to. If you still hear nothing back, ask Airbnb to make contact with the guest.
