@Alberto1448 Anyone who books a place during a pandemic, knowing the risks involved, should not expect 'indulgence' on the part of the host if the guest booked a place with a non-refundable policy.
I know it hurts to lose the money, but if guests want to be able to cancel on short notice with a refund they should look for places with flexible cancellation policies.
If the host refunded you, then it would be the host who lost the money instead of you, as it's unlikely they would get another booking for those dates, which your reservation blocked, on such short notice.
