[Update] Hear answers to top-voted questions about our recent announcements

Hello everyone,

 

On February 27th, we held our second global host Q&A, where CEO and Head of Community Brian Chesky answered questions about the next Airbnb, inspired by you.

 

Our global host Q&A events are part of Brian’s 2017 pledge to elevate the voice of the host community. We’ll hold these events throughout the year, rotating the livestream start time to accommodate different time zones.

 

This latest global host Q&A event was dedicated specifically to your questions about our recent announcements and what’s next for hosts on Airbnb. Brian answered a selection of questions that received the most votes from the host community.

 

Watch the replay to hear the questions and Brian’s answers (registration required). The livestream was held in English. To turn on translated subtitles, click the “CC” (Closed Captioning) button underneath the video screen when viewing.

I was on the live stream at the start when it was playing music, then suddenly there was nothing.  I've tried re-joining several times.  It says I'm on live stream, but there is no sound and no video.  help?

Is it time?  It starts a noon central time.  This is pacific time so it has not started.

Yes, to confirm the live event is due to start in 30 minutes. The video with sound will update then.

Yes, we will be recording it and it will be available to watch after the event has taken place. Just to add, we will also be adding subtitles to the recording, but this will take us a few days.

It was not clear to me at all that we had to submit questions ahead of time, because today's event is a "LIVE Q&A" and to me, that says we can ask q's in real time. Otherwise, I can watch the archive. That said, it's great that you're doing this and I will watch later, but I still have questions:

 

  1. The rates have been lower over the last 6-9 months, I'm guessing because there is more inventory, but I'm wondering how you recommend we increase income going forward to at least keep up with inflation. Have others noticed this? 
  2. As many have mentioned, I've been wondering how to get higher in search, although I get a lot of bookings, so I'm not that concerned. 
  3. However, I am worried that AirBnB plus will push Superhost listings down even further. Please advise. 
  4. Lately, I notice the Superhost support line (phone) keeps us on hold longer and that the response is not very strong. It's taking a long time to hear back about issues that seem very straightforward and simple. 
  5. I love the rewards and incentives, but they don't always work very well. For example, there was a $300 bonus listed for signing up a new host and then I received $200 for it. The support team has been "looking into it" for a week...it seems pretty straightforward. Now my dash says "$360 to sign up a new host" but it makes me nervous given the previous experience. 

If there is a better place for these questions, please let me know.

I am sorry to hear your disappointment here, as it isn't possible to ask your questions during this live event. You have some great questions and it might be that some similar questions are covered in the actual Q&A, so I hope you will find watching the replay insightful. This will be available after the event finishes.

 

Just to let you know, we also plan to hold global host Q&A events throughout the year. 

 

To add, you might like to start some topics here in the Community Center, as there are lots of experienced hosts here who might be able to give you some helpful tips on some of your questions here. 🙂

Hi, we are coming to the end of the livestream and my one question did not get answered. Supposedly one of the new features of the Superhost program is a dedicated search filter for Superhosts (which has existed on desktop already for quite some time).  Why does Mobile not have a dedicated Superhost filter? Thank you!
