All prices are showing in the wrong currency?

This is really an issue for hosting and traveling. For the last few day all prices displayed on airbnb have changed to US Dollars. I'm in the UK, using airbnb.co.uk, my account is in British Pounds ... I'm confused. Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

After 2 years with no change in my payment method, I am now being charged in $ instead of GBP.

"Airbnb may take a 3% foreign exchange fee."

Airbnb charges a fee from the reservation amount for use of the Airbnb online platform.

Additionally, Airbnb may take a 3% foreign exchange fee.

We include the foreign exchange fee in our service fees. As a result, the services fees on your VAT invoice may be different than the service fees you see on your reservation itinerary. The reservation amount is paid by the Guest through Airbnb to the Host.

Yes there needs to be competion. This site are no good at communicating.  I booked a place recently. Put a review on, didn't show. Contacted the host who didnt reply. Wont show GBP. Honestly the site is pants.

Same happened with me. I went to France in May and paid everything in Euros. Now I want to book for Portugal. They first show prices in Euro and during payment, the currency changes to dollars and is more due to conversion rate!! Very disappointed

I was surprised that the system wouldn't let me pay in pounds, this is a bug on the system airbnb are using, the users should not be penalised for. In my case i was charged for currency conversion by my bank to us dollars and then by air bnb to exchange to australian dollars for the booking. Not a good working system, when i booked last i paid in gbp, so this should be able to be resolved. Air bnb please explain why your users are having this problem and eta for a resolution. In particular in the meantime do not charge for users for your system errors. Very disappointed as my previous booking experience was good paid in gbp and accommodation good too. Irritated of Essex.

I have been experiencing the same problem since the last month. Despite all of my account settings are all in EUR and the room I am looking for is also in Germany, I couldnt understand why I had to pay in USD.

Everytime I want to book, AirBnB said that my paypal account is set in USD, this is lying because in my paypal settings there is only one standard currency, and it is EUR. In the last one year using this account, I have never seen this kind of problem.

From Canada here, making payment on a property located in the US. The payment was made through AirBnb's app. At the time of booking, I was quoted an amount in USD and there was a message stating that I'd be charged in USD. Accordingly, I provide a US credit card.

A week later I'm reviewing the receipt generated by AirBnb and it seems everything was charged in CAD. Correct me if I'm wrong, but so now it seems that not only am I paying AirBnb's 3% conversion fee, I'm also paying the exchange rate charged by my credit card company?

What is going on here? AirBnb's help website has very kindly provided me the host's contact information, but is this really the sort of thing the host will be able to fix for me?

And who do I need to speak to to get this resolved?

Same problem for me, one min it's showing in British Pounds and then went I go through to book it's showing in USD, yet the place I'm booking is in the UK where i am. It makes no sense to pay a British host in USD when we both want to pay in USD, this is just a money making exercise for the company can surely can’t be legal?!

Hi , I am having exactly the same issue but mine is transferring into Indian rupees , I  trying to pay either on a french credit card or English one , this is just crazy

Yep - same problem here. Paying for accommodation in Australia with an AUD credit card - the AUD amount gets transferred into GBP and then back to a higher AUD amount. Either a deliberate Airbnb scam or a 'bug' (which they have no incentive to fix because it's generating extra revenue for them). Will book accommodation through other portals until this is sorted out.

Yes,  Airbnb is a scam.  They charged high fee from Paypal and the currency suddenly turns into USD.

although the price is in AUD.  Disappointed that suddenly the price is charged in USD.

Yep I am looking to buy Pound Sterling denominated vouchers and showing up in dollars. I have contacted Air B&B re this via their feedback form. Not sure how long or well they are at responding to these forms so let's see.

It seems that they do it intentionally. I had the same problem while booking home in the USA - the price was in USD. However, while trying to do payment via PayPal (where I have everything in USD), they charged me in EUR. While using a card which is in USD but issued by Polish bank, they charged me in PLN. Everything to earn on money exchange. I tried to sort it out via their call centre 1 (855) 424-7262 but they actually did nothing...

I am from Canada and on their website, everything is in CAD. However, I don't want to end up paying in USD because I will have to pay more. I contacted them and this is what they said. My issue is still not solved.

I understand 100% what you are saying here and this is an issue I have come across here before but it is not common and although I do not have statistics I would suggest it would not happen in more than 3% of booking cases. If it does happen we can always open a case with an agent to get it reversed.
I am with you here Samantha, it would be fantastic to just set the currency you want to pay in, no exceptions but this platform just does not run that way.
I/we are here to support you in all aspects of the running of this platform and obviously we don't want to see press like this but although the system is automated our company agents have the ability to over ride it if something wrong is happening.
I am sorry i can't be more specific than that Samantha. I understand your concerns, but we will look after you.

RESOLVED!

I was in contact with an Airbnb specialist and I was told I can select the currency Airbnb is charging. Please find the screenshot below.6f286e9b-7b11-4709-9c61-0781bc324123.jpeg
