Blocking the calendar

I'm brand new to Airbnb hosting although I have experience with VRBO, so I'm learning the differences. I have a beach property that I rent weekly in the summer only. Am I correct in understanding that blocking out the entire calendar with the exception of the summer season negatively affects my ranking and/or my property showing up in searches?

@Sharon608  Search position is related to activity, so perhaps you can wait awhile before your listing goes live for the summer rental.  Also, Air BNB gives a bit of a boost to new listings so you want to take advantage of that.  Make sense?

Thanks for your reply, Linda. I'm in the cold Northeast 🙂 so people tend to start looking forward to their summer vacations in the wintertime. It makes sense to put my listing up now for that reason, but it'll be months before I actually have guests and reviews after their stay.
