Changing a booking's dates - what is impact on cost?

Hi,

A guest modified their booking today to reduce it by 3 nights.  The cost to them has reduced pro rata so I can only assume that the strict cancellation policy of 50% does not apply to modifications, only complete cancellations. Bit miffed as it is essentially a cancellation for those 3 nights! 

Can anyone clarify if my interpretation is correct please?

Hi @Lynn, I am not sure how it will effect you, but twicw guests reduced their stay from multiple nights to 1 night as they fell within the moderate cancellation period where they would have been penalised. They then change it to a later date and then cancell. Many ways to kill a cat I suppose. I is a great way to get around the cancellation policies - change date to far in the future and then cancel.

Alterations do not fall under the cancellation policies, but you have the option to decline the request.
