@Annette33 thanks for your comments. i read everything.
with respect to staying at an airbnb place, what i've noticed just with this small exercise is first, i never realised there were places at airnb i would actually like to stay. i generally stay in hotels. usually 5 star. second, since i know i intend travelling and generally have an idea of what direction i'm headed, just tonight and just because i saw a listing from this thread, i'm considering a slight alteration to those travel plans which at the moment are pretty loose but tight enough to know approx where i'm likely to be in that country. third, some places i like to return to if my trip allows. i know a bit and sometimes more than just a bit about a place and tonight i discovered there is a BNB apartment i like. i can see from the pics and the write-up i would stay there. so on all counts thats been helpfu,l which from my perspective is a positive gain. i like positive.
with respect to gains for me? my price is high. i use the price as a filter. i also don't wish to have just anyone come to stay not just in terms of my home but also in terms of those others who choose to stay. i consider filtering on their behalf part of my job. with respect to getting more bookings, i live in a place where there is not enough beds for the number of tourists we have. independent travellers are often unaware of this.
i add that the number of wishlist hearts creates a perception of popularity. even in my mind, when rationally i know this does not necessarily equate to actual reservations.
but i liked reading your perspective annette.
