Welcome to the Frontline stays board. Introduce yourself here.

Hi, I'm Kat on the Frontline stays team. We created this group so that you and other hosts offering stays for COVID-19 first responders have a dedicated space to meet and support each other, and connect with our team. We hope you can use this group to connect with other hosts in your area, share tips and advice for hosting first responders in these unique circumstances, and ask questions. If you haven’t already, please check out our Frontline stays FAQs

To start, let’s get to know each other! If you’d like, please introduce yourself - you can include where you’re from, how long you’ve been hosting, and why you decided to open your listing up to first responders.

Thank you for being here, the frontline stays program would not exist without you.

Kat

As always, please remember to keep the Community Center Guidelines in mind when you interact in this group.

Hi my name is Kim Hunte from the beautiful island of Barbados in the eastern Caribbean.

I have been hosting since 2017.

Tourism is our main industry so this pandemic has dire consequences for our economy for the immediate and indefinite future.

So far we have  77 cases and have had 6 deaths from Covid 19 we are under strict lockdown until June 30th. So far there is no evidence of community spread all of our cases were traced to persons who had travelled from USA or UK.

I offered my property for Frontline workers because I understand that we are all in this together and our combined efforts worldwide are the only way to rid our countries of this silent enemy.

Thanks for the invite! I'm Kris in Scottsdale, Arizona. I've been a Superhost for more than 2 years. I signed up for the program as soon as it was offered. As of yet, I have not received one reservation from it. I'm within walking distance to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital which I though I might at least get a couple of reservations. I also gave a 30% discount of my summer prices which is my low season.  Does anyone know if it's highlighted on the listing when someone is looking for a place to stay? I haven't seen a difference when I've checked my listings. My reservations have been cancelled through May. We are now entering the low season for us and it's dismal.

Hi @Kris173  - thank you for joining the group and offering your space to first responders. The resulting price for any discount you offer first responders will be visible to them while booking. This is separate, and won't be combined, to any discounts you are offering guests seeing your listing through the traditional Airbnb booking process for non-first responder guests.  I hope this helps clarify, thank you again!

Hello, I am Andreas and we my wife Gabi and I rent since 2014. Our flat is near the hospital and the heart centre.
Also with us there are no inquiries because of Covit19, well in such a way!

Hello,

We joined the program as there is a hospital 5 min walking distance from us. No reservations so far even after discounts.

I would also like to express how disheartened we are with Airbnb after supporting the platform for years to hear that they have created a "SUPER HOST" fund but if you are not presently a  super host or lost your status you are not part of that grant. It's hideous and I think more long-standing host should voice their opinion. Airbnb has made a lot of money from us hosts who have put our properties out there and worked very hard to build their platform.

Hi my name is Jayne and i host apartments in the Sheffield area. I have been with Airbnb for 3 years now.

As of i think last Tuesday all booking platforms have put blocks on all short term rental property. I signed up for the frontline project but still had my properties blocked until the 9th of May. Hopefully Airbnb are looking into this now. Just before this time period many of my bookings cancelled but I  picked up a few key worker bookings from companies that needed civil engineers in the area, ground workers for the gas supply and other companies that service the electricity grid.

I have not attained superhost yet as i ended up putting all 7 of my places together so its always a collective total which i feel is unfair as i have homes from one end of the scale to the other. I feel each property should be based on its own merit.

Hi Everyone,

I am Donna from Warwick NY and have been a Superhost since 2013.  My rental is within walking distance to St. Anthony's Community Hospital and have been fortunate to have long term guest renting April and until May.  After that I do want to open my home to healthcare workers and am taking every precaution advised by the CDC and Airbnb. Airbnb's printable checklist and letter to guests are invaluable and I have printed them out and they are in the guest binder for guests to view.  Thank you to Airbnb and our wonderful community of Superhosts!

Thank you @Donna445 for being part of the program!

Hello one and all - I am new to hosting on AirBnB, but have been a traveler for many years. I originally posted my stand-alone cottage for traveling medical professionals as we have a small community hospital in our remote rural town on the Oregon coast that utilizes temporary health care staffing. Also, longer term rentals are very hard to find, particularly in the summer (tourist) months. COVID19 has just made an appearance in our county two weeks ago, through a minimum security prison about 40 miles north of us. One employee test positive last week, so we are no longer a zero-case statistic for our state.

Hello All,

We are Kevin & Tedde, we have been AirBnB hosts for just over a year. We have a private room with private entrance downstairs in our main home, which we have been reluctant to rent due to COVID-19. We just completed a separate 1 bed / 1 bath fully furnished guest cottage which was completed in March 2020. We have made it available to 1st Responders and Traveling Medical.

We have our 1st 1st Responder guest arriving today and will be here for 28 days in Paso Robles serving the Twin Cities Hospital in Templeton, not far from us. We have taken the steps to disinfect the cottage top to bottom and provide Lysol disinfectant cleaner and Hand Sanitizer wipes.

We look forward providing a safe place for 1st responders and traveling medical.

We wish all of you best of luck. Kev and Tedde

Hi guys, thank you for the invite my name is Jimmy. I have been hosting for almost a year now. I have a single family in Hollywood, Florida. This virus has significantly impacted my reservations and so I saw and enrolled in the first Responder's program. My home is a couple of miles away from Memorial Regional hospital in Hollywood and I was hosting a healthcare worker who was suppose to stay for 7 nights to work at this particular hospital.

Unfortunately the guest cancelled after the first night because he had a brand new Tesla and didn't feel that his vehicle was safe in my neighborhood =\

Hi thanks for the invite!

We have a little rental in the Scottish Borders.  Its a one bedroom flat attached to our home.  We have had a key worker in for a month before we signed up to the frontline stays but due to a change in his work schedule he then no longer needed the property.
