Welcome to the Frontline stays board. Introduce yourself here.

Hi, I'm Kat on the Frontline stays team. We created this group so that you and other hosts offering stays for COVID-19 first responders have a dedicated space to meet and support each other, and connect with our team. We hope you can use this group to connect with other hosts in your area, share tips and advice for hosting first responders in these unique circumstances, and ask questions. If you haven’t already, please check out our Frontline stays FAQs

To start, let’s get to know each other! If you’d like, please introduce yourself - you can include where you’re from, how long you’ve been hosting, and why you decided to open your listing up to first responders.

Thank you for being here, the frontline stays program would not exist without you.

Kat

As always, please remember to keep the Community Center Guidelines in mind when you interact in this group.

Hi Im Pablo from Madrid, Spain, been hosting from 2014 and right now, I have a doctor and a nurse from Puerta de Hierro Hospital (one of the biggests one in Madrid), cause is just 800m from my place. I decided to offer my place as I guess won't have any tourist coming in a long time, so this way could be the best to help Doctors to rest and avoid risk contact with their own families. As You know Covid19 is hitting very hard here with more than 23K deaths & 210.000 diagnosed people.
My guests are very happy right now to be safe and having the rest they deserve.

Diane here. We are fortunate to have a vacation rental in Sonoma County. We are commercial beekeepers and keep our bees in the area to help sustain them. We joke that even bees need a vacation.

Currently we are not allowed by county laws to have any short term rentals. We opted to host first responders at no cost to them. We feel that is the least we can do for them and their families and we are fortunate to be in position to offer our home.

thank you for the support

My name is Lucas, I own 2 properties in Brazil advertised  on Airbnb. Unfortunately, after the epidemic, my occupation dropped from 80% to 5%.

Hi! I am very new to Airbnb and have only had one guest. It worked out well and have three pending and we are all watching if the huge community events and the wedding will be cancelled due to the virus. I am in Neenah, Wisconsin and we have many hospitals nearby. I know a lot of medical facilities are even laying off due to the virus affecting how few surgeries are being performed so not sure how many traveling nurses etc. I will see. I have several other single family homes I rent out (standard year long lease)  here and in Minneapolis and I am not getting  anyone answering my ads for those either. It is like all rentals, short and long have just stopped dead. Not sure if I am going to convert any of them to long or short term. Not sure what will recover first!

I am in Portobello, Edinburgh and in these "interesting" times I have been hosting two types of guests in need.  Those who are key workers living away from their families for safety reasons, and one who had left hospital after surgery and required isolation from their family.  It is a whole home situation, so there is no sharing of course.

Hello, I'm Heidi.

I live in the south of England in Winchester.

What changing times we live in!

My house is a walk from our local hospital and I've hosted various medical workers in the past.

Greetings to all, H

Hello y’all,

What trying times we live in. How fortunate are we to be able to do something positive.

we’ve just finished hosting (and cleaning up after) our first essential worker guests, with our second group having arrived today.

The new cleaning schedule went well, although going from four hours to two days was an effort - but one well worth it considering I’m keeping not only our guests and essential workers safe, but me and mine also. I’m certain that once I get into the new cleaning routine, it will become much easier.

We live in the country, our nearest hospital is 30 minutes from us.

Hi @Deborah82 so wonderful to hear you have already hosted two sets of guests so early in the program. Thank you for the extra effort in keeping the space clean and safe. Thankful to have you as part of the community.

HI Heidi, I’m on the Isle of Wight and will be hosting my first frontliners at the end of The week.  Whilst I am keen to do this; it does build stress - if I feel like this, it must be so dreadful for them and their families. Good to hear from you. BRon

Hello I'm Sheila Morris of Msrshall Texas. I have been hosting for 1 1/2 years. I decided to join the frontline hosting because I am a frontline worker. I've been a nurse for 28 yrs and know 1st hand the need for having a clean and comfortable place to relax at the end of the day. Marshall is a small town and our numbers are climbing and we may need out medical staff soon. I'm sure this virus has affected all of us in some manner. I have not received any funding to help offset my losses.

Hi from Greece,
We listed our property for front line workers but obviously haven't been taken up on it as we are 3 hours away from the nearest Covid-19 dedicated hospital. At the beginning of the crisis Greece thought that it may need to use more than the original 17 hospitals dedicated to treating victims but this never happened as they have controlled things so well.
Anyway, I'm thinking of offering some free weeks to frontline workers when we re-open as a small thank you.
Keep Safe and Well everyone
Best wishes from Sunny Romanos Petrohori, Messinias, Greece!

Hi all! I just bought a rental Dec 2019 so I'm a rookie. Bought just in time to see the impact of Covid. So, I'm making lemonade from these lemons. I have an RN using my brand new home for 2 months. I'm, not charging rent since no one is traveling anyway. I did ask him to cover the before and after cleanings, which he agreed to.

Not the best start but a warming of the heart response to this tragedy.

Best of luck with your first guest.

Well done and a belated welcome to the wonderful community here at Airbnb. What a way to begin. Thank you for doing your bit, it’s marvellous that Airbnb have stretched out to us, providing us with the tools to do something in these awful circumstances.

Stay safe, stay well/
