Merci beaucoup

Thanks for your message and your attention in this matter.
I do wish to lodge a formal complaint with AirB&B - can you help me to do that?
This latest policy change, coming into effect in July 2018 is simply unfair to hosts and customers who live in continental Europe.
One of my properties is a whole house rental. In my advert, I describe all of the facilities and explain that bedding and towels are not provided with this property, but can be provided at an extra cost. As I have already explained to you, this is a very common custom and practise in Continental Europe where a place is in a rural location (typically a visiting family would have to bring a car, and they load their car up with everything they need for their stay).
The incoming law that all properties must include this service in the standard price is detrimental to the customers who want to bring their own laundry, as they end up paying for a service that they are not using.
You are taking away cutomer choice and forcing hosts to offer something that is going to impact on their pricing.
I think it would be much fairer for you to change your system so that visitors can choose the options that they want from a host - this way, they don't end up paying for something they don't want.
This strong arm, very US-centric approach to a new regulation is completely against the ethos of what AirB&B set out to do in the first place. Moreover, it is not good customer service, and I know that AirB&B usually offer excellent customer service to bith hosts and customers, so please do not tie us down to a one-size fits all solution.
Please can you bump this message up to your policy makers? July is drawing near and I wish to have this point resolved before that date.
Many thanks for your help.

Thank you for your follow up message. Unfortunately I am not in a position to give you a more detailed response on the matter, but we do appreciate your concerns, comments and feedback.
We understand that this is considered non customary in France and other such countries. However, Airbnb is looking out for it's users as a whole and particularly those visiting France from other countries that would be used to such expectations as bedding and towels.
Overall, the new standards will probably be a good thing for hosts like yourself as guests visiting from other countries will be happy with not being charged extra for customs they would be expecting anyway. They will have better stays, leave better reviews and in turn generate more business for you as a host.
Similarly, guests who would not be used to having these luxuries provided will either have the option to use their own items or else be pleasantly surprised by the presence of your customs. Again, trip satisfaction will rise for these guests.
I do understand your frustration and am aware this may take some time to get used to. I can also assure you that when these procedures come into play in July that Airbnb will continually review the policy and should there be a large number of similar views on the matter, like your own, then there will no doubt be a reconsideration on the matter.
