Airbnb booking dried up

I have been with Airbnb for a little more than 1 year. I am in Mississauga, Ontario. I Started in November of 2023 and 2024 has been great for me. I had 5 to7 booking for every month of 2024 starting from January of 2024.

I have professional pictures, detailed writing, I am a guest favorite and a super host for almost a year now.

However I hardly got any bookings starting from this year. Usually January would already get booked out a month earlier in December (as  per the trend from last year) but that didn't happen this time, nor am I getting any booking right now even with ridiculously low price and promotions.

I am worried because I depend on this Airbnb earning and I was wondering if others are facing the same issue. Is the market down, more supply in the area or a glitch in Airbnb system?

Here is an interesting thing that happened and I don't know if it is a coincidence. I reached out to customer support regarding this on 24th December and they provided me a bunch of data regarding page view and stuff and they assured me that everything is ok on their end and people are viewing my listing. And two days later on 26th December I do get a booking. And then again everything is quite. It's not like earlier when I was getting a booking every few days.

It would be great to hear others thoughts and see if anyone else is going through the same situation or have faced this before.

Well....I tried finding your listing and couldn't find it when doing an incognito search. I also zoomed way in on the map and couldn't find it. I believe the Winter Release 2024 software has been released to the entire platform now? It's possible something is up with that?

Have you gotten and callouts on the listing to upgrade to professional photos on the Listing Editor? Others have seen that and noticed they weren't visible after seeing the callout. Then once the callout stopped appearing (a few days), their listings majically starting appearing again.

If you go to a private window browsing (Google calls it incognito), then type in Airbnb.com and try finding your listing in search results like a guest would (don't login to your Airbnb account).

Hi @Joan2709

Thank you so much for taking the time and giving me back a detailed reply. I really appreciate it.

So I did go incognito as you suggested and I did find my listing's, sometimes on the first page and other times on the second page. I did see a lot of new listing's ahead of me but I suppose that's airbnb giving the new listing's an opportunity to get their business started.

I suppose since I was new this time last year airbnb put me at the top of the list and I got a lot of business. But that may not be the case any more despite being a super host and guest favorite.

I did see the call outs for professional pictures sometime ago and then it went away.

Yes I did and I just replied back. Her reply was quite insightful and it did help me to come up with some conclusions even though it doesn't help my problem yet. Maybe it's just the time of the year or other factors that's making the business slow and hopefully it will pick up.
