My guest booked 31 night stay in Unincorporated Dekalb County Georgia. Why were "hotel" taxes collected?
I'm confused about payments of occupancy taxes and fees in Unincorporated Dekalb County Georgia. I thought my guests wouldn't be charged "hotel" taxes, as long as they booked stays for more than 30 nights.
Are month to month leases subject to the same taxes and fees as short term rentals? If there's a difference, what are the distinguishing criteria?
The State of Georgia defines a short-term rental is an accommodation up to 90 days. Here is a pretty good reference link to Georgia and all the different states, although you should call your local jurisdiction to get the official regulation. On the page at the link below, there is also a link to a Lodging Tax Tool, where you can put in your address and get additional local taxes, if any.
