I just had a guest check out who smoked blunts in the apartment. It it was just weed, I'd open the doors and air it out. But blunt chemicals stick to everything and leave the apartment smelling for days. I have an ozone ionizing machine and when this happens, I run it for 2-5 hours, depending on how much time I have, and get rid of the smell. In my house rules I write "$150 penalty fee for smoking". This is to cover the additional time needed to clean, and the cost of the expensive machine I had to invest in. I have had to file reimbursement requests with Airbnb about 3-5 times for guests who don't cover the fee. In the past, the agents simply asked me how many hours I spent cleaning and then approve the request. I always provide evidence of the ash, evidence of the ozone machine running, etc. This time they declined my request stating it doesn't follow the Aircover policy. Has anyone seen this change??? I thought smoke removal was covered by Aircover. What happened?
