***Tax Amounts Show in App - Not on Desktop

***Tax Amounts Show in App - Not on Desktop

I just happened to be researching if Airbnb was collecting the correct tax amounts for several listings. I usually do all my work on the desktop. The desktop version doesn't show the dollar amounts for taxes, only the name of the jurisdictions. I happened to try checking on the App and found the dollar amounts for each jurisdiction shown! Not sure if it has always been that way or not.

This will really help in determining if the correct tax amounts are being collected and for what tax authorities. Just thought I would pass along:

Hi,

I'm not seeing this on my app.  Do you have to be in Pro Tools on the app as well?  I'm having trouble figuring out how to do that on the app as I usually use my desktop.

Thank you,

Jennifer

Alas...Airbnb has since removed the percentage number and is only displaying the name of the jurisdiction again....sigh. Perhaps they were testing it? Not sure.

If you are listed on Vrbo, you can check the taxes there, as they do disclose the tax percentages. You can also choose a listing on Vrbo that near to yours and see what the percentage are. Just remember that taxes are depended on the legal address of the listing and whether the listing is with the taxing jurisdictions map boundaries. One listing across the street in a different county may have different taxes than you.

Thank you Joan!  One of your other posts regarding tax breakdown and creating a spreadsheet was a life saver!  I've got it figured out in a pretty little spreadsheet of my own.. thanks to you!

However, my county is requesting the tax breakdown come directly from AirBnb (on AirBnb letterhead), so they have proof what was paid on my behalf.  I was hoping to give them something more direct from AirBnb and thought this might help.   Oh well.

Has anyone been able to get anything official from AirBnb about what they pay out and to whom in a breakdown monthly rather than just the total amount remitted to all jurisdictions?

@Jennifer4887

So glad the previous post helped!

Your county should be aware that Airbnb pays the taxes in one lump sum to the county and doesn't break that down by Host. They will not provide anything on "Airbnb letterhead" or otherwise.

You could provide a copy of your Earnings Summary using the CSV file format, but that only shows total taxes collected, not broken down by each jurisdiction.

You can refer the county to the Airbnb City Portal, which works with local government and tourism officials regarding taxes and regulations. I would give them the link below and have them contact Airbnb if they need further clarification on this.
