My girlfriend and I own a property that we are co-hosting. We are using my account as the primary host and hers as the co-host. We are splitting all expenses and income from Airbnb equally, but we are not sure if at the end of the year, Airbnb will issue 1099 forms to both of us or just to the primary host. If it's only the primary host, how can we tell the IRS that we are 50-50 in the business? Any ideas?
@Victor2531 You need to speak to a tax accountant. He will be able to assist you in dividing the income with the correct forms for the IRS. If you do get a 1099 from AirBnB, it will probably be assigned to the person who completed the W9 on file with AirBnB and whose bank account the money is disbursed to.
