Using hosts spaces to recover from Covid.

Hi. I have had people requesting odd things like letting others in and deliveries. Putting two and two together I am thinking I have a guest that has or has had Covid looking for a place to recover instead of a elder home.
what is Airbnb doing to protect hosts from this unfair process? I am NOT a health facility!!! Am i liable for death or other sueable  cases for a guest w Covid dies in my space???!!!

How are you vetting your guests before accepting their bookings? @Linda324

Im not sure I would jump to the conclusion that they have Covid because they let others in - and what does this mean exactly do you mean additional guests not on the booking?

@Linda324  Wow. So if I had Covid or I'm recovering from Covid I'm supposed to go check myself in to an "elder home?" Who knew.

You do realize that social distancing is basically acting as if everyone you come in contact with could infect you with Covid, right? That's why we social distance, wear masks, etc.

The concept of quarantine is that if you DO have Covid or have been exposed, you isolate- be it in a hotel room, an AirBnB, or a room in your own home. The point is to avoid contact that might expose others to your infection. Isolating/quarantining is a responsible act, and can be done safely in a number of different situations.

It sounds like you've made many assumptions here, along with not really understanding the part that AirBnB plays in your STR relationship with your guests. AirBnB is not responsible for screening your guests and telling them where they can and cannot stay.

Any responsible guest should certainly divulge any infectious health condition. Frankly, if somebody contacted me and wanted to book a stay to quarantine- even with an active infection- I'd be fine with it. Mind you, I'm not home sharing- they get a completely separate place to stay.

And yes, you would most definitely be liable and SUEABLE for any guest that dies in your home, be it from the vapors, a Viagra overdose,  or Covid. 😂😂😂😂😂

Ok so viagra not the same thing!! Not deadly nor contagious. How am I supposed to know a guest is dire due to Covid? What if I get called to step in with their emergency and I get sick??’!!
I think it is criminally endangering to not let a host know you are sick w Covid when you book a place. And YES they need to be in a medical facility or nursing home not an unsuspecting persons private residence!!  I have to deal w their laundry and check them in. At risks I don’t know I am taking.

Perhaps there is a new section for guests that are quarantining or recovering so host knowingly take on the risk and can charge accordingly and protect themselves accordingly. Sick guests need to sign a hold harmless agreement to keep the host free from legal actions. Also vaccinations certs might be a useful filter.
Wow. Some blatant shoveling of personal responsibility of guests onto hosts!!

@Linda324 What happens if a guest has no idea that they have covid and you check them in and get sick? What happens if you have no idea that you have covid and you check in a guest and they get sick?

@Emilia42 I don’t believe @Linda324 was as concerned with a guest (or host) unintentionally infecting a host (or guest). This is why we have and follow guidelines to do our best to keep each other safe. I share her valid concern about a guest INTENTIONALLY booking my space to quarantine or recover from the virus without my knowledge or consent.

@Linda324  think about it from a positive side - to recover from covid sometimes takes months, so you will have no problem with occupancy 🙂

Seriously... if your guest is RECOVERING from covid, it could mean he has have it before and now he is negative but he still feels weak, can't breathe well, etc... and needs a safe and quiet place to recover.  Maybe you could ask him if he has a new negative covid test to show you.
