I am a citizen of the US, living in the US and I booked a US property. I used a uS credit card with a US billing address and paid in US dollars. When the complete charge processed, I noticed I was charged UK VAT. This is a fraudulent charge, you cannot charge foreign taxes in the US, but after no less than a dozen connections with UK, they still refuse to credit the amount and correct the “error” for my future reservations where it is also appearing. The rate is 20% and any advice about how to proceed would be appreciated.
