Accommodation vs Venue

I am finding that certain groups of people,  more so younger members book accommodation with the sole purpose of holding a party and treating the home as a “venue”.  They normally signup with Airbnb. I wonder what can I and or Airbnb do to alleviate this. I have a swimming pool and a jacuzzi. I do not advertise the jacuzzi.  They don’t respect house rules like no partying and come fully prepared with alcohol, speakers and the like.

I have had the same problem, guests booking for 2 but  there sole purpose is to throw a big bash! But luckily for me I live here also. So they will book like a month or so out and then usually about 1 wk prier they will then ask question more questions, like will they have whole use of the home? Full use of kitchen and patio area, I inform them yes you can but they are shared spaces. Then inform them that I also live in the home and always here, just as it states in my listing. Well never fails 3min. later I get the Cancellation notice! And at least I still get paid! So my advice to you if you can't be there possibly get a Co-host to stay their while they are there or have a neighbor check in on them! Or just say something like someone always checking up on them to make sure all is ok ! Hope this might help you  from getting those types of group of guests .

@Lorraine289 I browsed both your listings, and it looks like you check guests in, AND you live in an adjoining unit, yet you still get people showing up to party? Wow. Perhaps put it up front and center in the listing that guests who show up ready to party hearty, breaking your 'no parties or events rule', will immediately be evicted, with no refund of course. ABB 'should' back you up on that.  Of course, you'd have to be prepared to actually do that, but it would likely go a long way in preventing them getting a foot in the door in the first place. What do you do to vet your guests?

@Lorraine289  I find your listing description too impersonal- if I were you I'd try to put more of myself into it and market towards the type of guests you'd like to attract as well as state in the description that parties are not allowed and that anyone who misrepresents their intentions in that regard will be turfed out (not in those words).

And I would ask the same as Colleen- how do you vet guests before accepting them, or do you just let people IB and take all comers?
