Air bnb DON'T CARE, pathetic attempt at solving a dispute. Don't waste your time.

I found out on the day that a guest checked out, that the house had been used for huge parties that spilled out onto the street. The parties went on til 4 am in the morning, keeping the whole street awake and up all night. They were brawling in the street, shooting off cap guns and fake machine guns. Yelling, argueing, drunken disorderly behaviour.

The guest booked for 3 people but according to the neighbours there were over 30 people at my house on 2 of the 3 nights booked.

I complained to air bnb about this situation, firstly she breached the rules of my house that clearly stated no parties or events, and she owes over $1900 to me for all the extra guests that were not declared.

So I got this case manager named Ray. He said he would look into it but said he couldn't do much without evidence, evidence, I have the whole street willing to vouch on the parties and number of guests in the house. But will he do anything about it, no of cousre not. He messaged the guest, she denied the claims and now that's it. Ray won't even reply to my messages anymore, he's ignoring me. Ive asked why he won't accept statements from my neighbours and he is totally ignoring me. Oh way to go air bnb, you really look after your hosts. Clearly they aren't willing to put much effore in to disputes.

So now I have to deal with very angry neighbours who don't want me to host ever again, and quite frankly, with the way air bnb have sided with the lying, dishonest guest, I don't want to myself. I'm done with air bnb, they are a disgrace. They take one person's word over a whole street. And all because I didn't have any photos of video footage. My neighbours are from an older generation that probably don't even have mobile phones to whip out and start filming at 4am in the moring. And because of their age, thay also didn't call the police as they didn't want to cause trouble. One of them did go into the street and yell at them to close the party down on the second night at 4am.  And apparently none of that is enough for air bnb to charge her for the extra guests, even though I asked for a $2000 security deposit. So folks, be warned that air bnb DON'T CARE and the security deposit is TOTALLY USELESS>

You are right, the security deposit is worthless.

Always these things are best solved by being proactive yourself.

That's with having cctv monitoring your house door and entry, a friendly neighbour who will pick up the phone to you if anything toward happens, vetting the guests  ID as it's almost always locals who party, tightly written rules to exclude any non registered guests entering the property. All stuff to deter chancers.

I hope no actual damage was done to your place.

If you carry on, you can rethink your own security once your anger has subsided and of course talk with your neighbours.

The case manager is in the middle of it, can't take money out of security deposits without the guests authorisation realistically, one side says sweet nothing happened and the other is saying machine guns were being fired two nights in a row but no police crime number. Ray probably has his forehead on the desk, crying and chanting rock and a hard place over and over.

Thanks for the pointers on security Elena. I didn't know my neighbours before, just a wave across the road. I do know them now though..lol and I have given my phone number to them so they can call me if this were to occur again.

I have 2 more booking over the Christmas holidays and after that I'm done, i don't wish to deal with air bnb again. And yes, I get that Ray is in the middle, but not replying to me only makes me more frustrated.
