Can I cancel my Airbnb reservation and get a full refund since it is illegal in Hongkong?

Hi! So I just completed a reservation with a host from Hongkong and he told me that I should not tell anyone about Airbnb or that his place is rented. He also told me to just say that I am his business acquaintance because Airbnb is illegal in Hongkong. If that is the case, I'd rather just book on a legitimate place but the thing is, I was only able to know of this after my reservation is complete. In this case, is it elligible for a full refund even though the cancellation policy set by the host is "Strict" since my case involves something with the government?

Presumably he told you this through Airbnb messaging so you have a record of the guest telling you this?

Call AIrbnb they will be will be to see what the host said and will cancel the booking for you.

Yes @Helen3 he told me this rule through Airbnb messaging so this will definitely be recorded in Airbnb's system. I'll send them an inquiry about this. Thanks!
