They cannot see the star ratings, only the written review.

Actually, I am asking about seeing the what previous hosts have written or rated about the guests.  It seems we should be able to see that before we book someone to stay in our rental.

You can see if guests have reviews by clicking on their photo - however you cannot see 'ratings' and I am not sure what you mean by 'ratings'.
