Can people request to stay just hours before arriving. & can't I refuse them?

Can't I refuse to book people who request a stay hours before arrival without affecting my "standing"?

  1. My setting is for 2 days notice. Why do I even get a request 2 hours before arriving? I accidentally accepted someone this way

Can't I just get pre-approved people? I made my settings for a reason. Yet non verified people are requesting stuff I don't accept? I feel like I will be penalized for refusing to book them. This puts me in an awkward position.
