Confused about declined bookings and customer payment

I just had someone request a booking. I declined as the room is not available and I should have blocked it out, and did so as a result fo declining this booking. This has happened before, it's not a crisis, it's precisely why Airbnb have a system of requesting bookings so a host can accept or decline as needed.

What throws me this time, is the requester reports that they paid already by credit card. Hmmm ... I didn't get any (of course not, I declined), and I've never had anyone report this, and I expect airbnb to fully refund their money. But I can find no evidence of that in help or from the requester just yet. Does anyone know what happens here to the money a requester paid? And on what timeline?

@Bernd83,

If the reservation is declined, there is no payment to Airbnb. The guest should contact Airbnb if he/she insist (and can proove) there is money taken from a creditcard for a declined reservation-request.

It is unlikely it happened, but the guest should sort it out with Airbnb, not with you.
