I have the availability calendar on my website synced with Airbnb so I thought it was impossible to have a double booking. Airbnb sent me a reservation email to confirm a booking which I missed so I didn't enter the dates on my calendar. About 2 months later someone made a booking through my website for the same dates.
I've just had the Airbnb guest contact me (after 8 months of not being in touch) and realise the situation. We felt so bad for them that we've found them somewhere else and have had to pay extra to get them in somewhere. (£625 on top of what they would have paid us).
I just don't see how it's possible for Airbnb to make a reservation without it showing on my calendar when they're supposed to by synced.
Any ideas anyone?
I feel Airbnb should be compensating me for the error.

Because I thought their system is supposed to block off dates in my synced calendar?
@Jenny264 what I can understand from your story is the first reservation is from airbnb and you missed it, so you did not block your website calendar. Then, later on, you received a booking for those dates through your own website and now it is a double booking, correct? If it is correct, then I do not see the airbnb error here because the airbnb calendar should sync and block the dates of the first reservation is from your site and the 2nd one from airbnb which should not exist/happen if it has synced with the website calendar. Airbnb is responsible to sync your airbnb calendar when you receive a booking, but it cannot sync your website calendar when you receive a booking from airbnb unless your website is capable of doing this. CMIIW.

Yes that's right. So now that explains what happened. We were under the impression that if Airbnb put a booking onto our calendar that it would show on ours so a double booking would be
impossible. As the guests didn't contact us at all for 9 months! we only found out about this a few days ago. Thanks for your help - when I spoke to someone at Airbnb by phone they said it should not have happened so I thought that meant that it should have been blocked off.
@Jenny264 you're welcome! If your website cannot automatically sync with airbnb calendar, make sure to block off any dates that already booked through airbnb.
