Remove cancellation ding

i am new to airbnb and i received an inquiry asking for more photos. while i was working on this my phone died and someone else autobookad the same dates. i contacted the person who booked and explained the situation and asked them to cancel on their end if possible. they agreed and cancelled, but it is showing up as if i cancelled, which i didn't. i offered to honor their reservation if they wanted to. how can i remove the cancellation from being counted against me?’

@Dan226 the short answer is: it cannot be removed.

 

I am guessing the guest choose the option about "Host requests to cancel" and that is why the cancellation and penalty are on you.

This is the risk of having an active instant book feature. 

 

Based on my 4 years experience, I never do "favorite" to new request/inquiry. It is a first come first serve as long as I am comfortable with the guest and reservation. Holding dates for people do not always end up with a confirmed reservation and it does not worth my time.

 

If you want to honor their reservation, you shouldn't ask them to cancel the reservation.

 

You can always contact airbnb and see if they can/willing to remove the penalty.

Thank you for your quick reply. Can I ask the person who booked to change the reason on their end?

@Dan226 based on what I know, it is not possible. Once the reservation is canceled, then you cannot undo that. I suggest that you contact airbnb directly to see if they are able to help you with this.
