Extra child at no cost

I have advertised my one bedroom apartment for maximum four guests.  An overseas traveler booked in as 1 guest ( a genuine mistake) for six nights. When I responded to the reservation I found it was a family of 5, which included a 2yr old. I offered to put a cot mattress in the lounge if acceptable to them.  Airbnb have been contacted & now say 4 guests coming. Am I expected to accomodate a 2 yr old for no financial return? The apartment is newly painted with some new furniture so I’m concerned about the finger marks, spills etc. & the clean up involved. Should I decline? I am a relatively new host.

Yes, you are expected to host infants for free and I find this is a major flaw with airbnb.

With Instant Book in place I had to remove "suitable for infants" as I list a property that sleeps 4, it is a tiny holiday home and no matter which  way I turn, there is no room to safely place a baby bed.

Sorry @Marit-Anne0 this is not correct. If the infant is over 2 they can be charged for.

@Marg0 the booking has been changed to four because you have said this is the maximum you take.

You need to go into the booking and create a special offer to include the cost for the 2 year old.

Obs @Helen3 I must have my infant brain on this morning 🙂

I suppose they must have adjusted the age of the two year old then as they now are only four ?

Better ask the guests again @Marg8 to find out what is actually going on.

Thanks for your input - when Airbnb say 0 - 2 yrs as an infant do they mean ‘under 3’? A bit confusing & has taken a lot of time to sort out with my guests. However, we have sorted it out now & both parties are happy.  Thanks again for your help, Marg

You read on this platform that Airbnb is only a Hosting site and that Host are inf fact self-employed, if that is the case how come Airbnb can decide that children go free? In fact, they incur a significant utility cost increase with nighty baths and heat not to forget lights being left on all night.

Airbnb is completely exploiting Hosts we're just "cannon fodder" you don't like?  role over next gob**bleep**e please.
