Extra people: €18 / night after the first guest

Extra people: €18 / night after the first guest

Hi guys! We are very fresh listers and we have been writing a lot on Airbnb. What we do not understand is what this means:

Extra people: €18 / night after the first guest OR Extra people: €0

But we cannot have more than 2 guests as stated so what is all about "extra people"? And how can we switch off this feature?

Another point we do not understand is that we charge EUR 35,- per night but Airbnb charges EUR 53,- PLUS EUR 57,- service fee for one week reservation! Can anybody explain these high charges?

Thanks a lot in advance

Well, that's easy:

You entered 2 guests as maximum no. of guests you take.

And the second person will have to pay an extra fee of 18,-

If I booked alone, I'd pay your basic amount.

If I booked for me and my partner, there'd be an extra 18,- on top of the basic amount for extra usage etc.

You can of course decide to choose for $ 0,-.

However, the system will then state Extra guests: No charge.

Silly and misleading (and yes guests interpret that to mean the more the merrier),

but that's how the system is now. So better if you have an extra fee per person after the first guest.

Thank you very much, it is all clear now. I much appreciate your quick respond.

Hi @Christothea0, you charge that amount but you've also set a cleaning fee and Airbnb charge the guest 6-12% of the cost you set as the servie fee. So that explains why the guest will pay more than you set. Don't forget you will also pay a 3% service fee to Airbnb.

You seem to have set the extra people correctly as your listing is showing the extra fee after the first guest and when entering some dates into the booking calendar it seems to calculate it correctly.

Thank you very much for you quick respond. Now I understand.
