I would like to rent my place out in Greece through airbnb but I don't want to have any problems with the Greek tax authorities. I would like airbnb to collect the VAT and remit it to the Greek tax authorities. Will that happen?

Post your enquiry on the group for Greeks in Greece . Property managers and individuals can join and stay informed , on legal and admin matters as well as joint ventures etc !
The group is closed , so you will need to ask to join first.

Renting out your Greek Property for Holiday Lets - http://www.livingincrete.net/EOT.html
doesn't look like Greece is currently on the list of countries where Airbnb collects the tax on your behalf. https://www.airbnb.co.uk/help/article/653
Alan & Georgina. Uk. We intend to Short term rent on Skiathos. My accountant there has set up an account in the Greek Tax system, but it had to include an Energy certificate done by an engineer. This, when finished gives you a rental reg. number and an account on the TAXIS net.gr website. Here you have to submit all rental details on the 20th of each month . Online, there is a video of how to negotiate the site BUT --- it's all in greek and very difficult to follow. I'm stuck as to managing it. A reply from the messages section of My Account in TAXISnet simply said, Yes it is in Greek !!!!! Help.
