Guest being difficult - please advise

Hi

I have guests from a certain European country that are just downright difficult, disrespectful and impossible.  They first wanted a discount which I refused as my price was already heavily discounted. When they booked they asked if they could check in 5 hours before the stipulated check-in time which I did not have a problem with. On their arrival, I noticed that there was a small bit of sand at the bottom of the pool. Seeing that they arrived 5 hours early, I requested to just vacuum the bit of sand out of the pool. They asked me to rather come back later because they were tired too which I gladly obliged. A few hours later I whatssapped them to ask if I could come back to vacuum the pool but did not get a response.

The next morning they responded to my WhatsApp and, asked me to come at 2pm, to which I agreed. At 2pm I rang the bell, which can be heard anywhere in the house, but they did not open the door to let me in. I peeped through the glass panel next to the door and could see them moving around in the house I then, via whattsApp informed them that I rang the bell but they did not open. The next morning I got a whatssapp asking when am I cleaning the pool. I informed them that I arrived the previous day but was not let in by them. Without any apology, they asked me to come at 2 pm. Again I obliged. At 2 pm I was able to access through the interleading garage door which they left unlocked as per my request. After cleaning the pool, I wanted to leave via the front door by using the "open door" button on the intercom system. The door, however, could not be opened. I discovered that the intercom system has been disconnected (not sure how they disconnected the system because I personally don't know how.) The next morning I got a WhatsApp message informing that the pool was still dirty and that there are dead worms in the pool. On inspection the afternoon, I discovered that there was a bit of sand on the pool stairs (obviously from the wind that blew the night before) and, the worms they referred to were a few dead centipedes that obviously fell in the pool during the night. Via whattsapp  I  informed them that these were not worms but a few (counted 5) small, harmless dead centipedes that must have fallen into the pool during the night. My kids, when they were small, used to play with centipedes.

These complaints might seem petty. My concern is that a host in our area also recently had endless problems with guests from the same country. When her guests checked out,  they wanted their money back, to which she obviously refused. Speaking to more hosts in our area, I discovered that they also had some problems with people from this specific country.

This is the first time since hosting on Airbnb that I am encountering such problems. These might seems to be not BIG issues but just want my guests to be happy. Ive always had raving reviews about how my guests felt like it was home from home.  I always try to give them their space and not intrude unnecessarily.

These guests have another 10 days with me and am hoping that these were mere communication problems, as they are not very fluent in English.

It is always good  to hear how other hosts dealt with problems/complaints/concerns
