Guest damaged sofa

Hi, We had a very large guest last week, probably 350lbs+, him and his guests seemed lovely and they left the apartment neat and tidy. However, we noticed, (and we’re guessing it was him) someone had ‘flopped’ down on the sofa and broken a spring which lead to the wooden frame breaking. I had already written a review on him saying he had left the apartment in good condition, it was only noticeable when we sat on the sofa, but we are booked solid and had new people coming in later that day, so we did a temporary job repairing it, however, we now see that the temporary repair isn’t holding, we are going to have to replace the sofa, £300-500, then, of course, the suite is going to be mismatched. I doubt there is anything we can do about it, it just so frustrating, that we’ve only been going less than six weeks, have lots of booking, and now this expense. It’s not as if we can advertise ‘only people less than 200lbs’. I’d appreciate feedback.

@Pamela553  Cost of doing business... you have to build such expenses into your rates.

If you have a business insurance with a low deductible it might be partly covered ?

Thanks for your responses. I was just having a rant about the unexpected expense so earlier in our Airbnb experience.  Building it into the price, when just getting started , would put people off booking, our insurance  excess is pretty much the same as the expense.
